still bummed
Well i am still bummed. Should not be but I am. We went on our cruise and had a good time despite having to wear a boot on my foot and not being able to enjoy the water. I wanted to swim so bad. I have been in this boot for 9 weeks now. Cried most of the way home knowing my son was driving from Texas to Iowa. I miss him. Been checking on air fares to see him.. Over $500.00. Sucks
Actually lost 3 lbs while on the Cruise. We had a good time but being in a boot because of a foot fracture made the beach impossible. I wanted to swim so bad. Walking in the sand was horrible. I am hoping to get out of this boot Monday. It has been 9 long weeks.
I haven't been exercising much since I got home. Just haven't felt like it. Finally made myself get on the exercise bike tonight.
My son had RNY 3 weeks before I did. He has lost 95 lbs and looks fantastic. I have lost 56 lbs and bought a size 16 jeans and can wear them. No w at the end of the size. Regular clothes. Yey

Pity about the cruise - but just think - so many more opportunities to be active as you shed the pounds. Concerning your son, it\'s sad, i know. I\'ve been through it myself. What\'s worse is that he took my 3 grandchildren with him! So inconsiderate!
Actually, he moved 8,000 miles away. It takes about 18 hours to fly from Melbourne, Australia to Seattle, USA. He and his family have now been there for 5 years and it doesn\'t look like they\'re coming back anytime soon. The job opportunities he has there put him at the cutting edge of IT - opportunities that don\'t exist here in Australia.
If it\'s any comfort to you, you do learn to live with it. We visit whenever we can, and when we can\'t, Skype is a wonderful thing. Why don\'t you make a regular time with him each week where you can have dinner together over Skype? You can catch up on the week\'s activities and compare progress. We can\'t do that, because dinner time there is the middle of the night here - but we catch up and chat regularly. Also, if you shop around, you can get much cheaper air fares - make friends with a good travel agent or keep in touch with deals online. Check out Hotwire - they often have really good deals.
thanks Paprika2, I know every parent goes thru it. Always knew he would nevef stay here. We live in a small town with little opportunity for our kids. I know how you feel with your kids half way around the world. I moved from Hawaii to Texas when I married at 18. It was hard on my mom too
