STILL ALIVE AND KICKING
It's been quite a while since I've been on this site. I guess I just finally gotten used to the ideal that I'm sick and dying just like everyone else on the planet. I came right over to write this journal I didn't even look to see if I have any friends left. Let's see what's happened in the last year. Well, the most positive thing I can think of is that I stuck to my guns and ate less food and did more exercise. Which by the way is the true key to weight loss. I did not change my diet at all except I disciplined myself to eat smaller portions. I did however, boycott all the fast food chains such as McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, Jack-in-the-Box, House of pancakes etc. I now only eat food that I prepare at home. Anyway the bottom line is when I went to the doctors last week, both my normal attending resident and my Reno clinic doctors came in to congratulate me for losing 97 pounds in the last year! I have now gone from 330 pounds down to 238 this morning. So, I still need to lose 40 pounds to reach my goal of 190 pounds.
I cannot begin to describe how much better I feel. I no longer have a hard time trying to tie my shoes or need to rock back and forth two or three times in order to get out of a chair. When I look down, I can now see my feet and other extremities. I haven't seen in quite a while. I can now walk for miles or walk up several flights of stairs, without breathing hard. I feel so much more alive now and my self-esteem is through the roof. I do regret buying new clothes in this economy. When the prices for everything is unaffordable for your average Joe like myself. However, the new look is worth it. I will really be happy when I reach my goal weight. I am trying to dig up some before pictures. So I can post before and after pictures. I most definitely do not look the same as before.
To all my friends who read this. I hope all is well in your life and all is well with your family. I hope we can all learn to love one another and move forward to whatever our great reward is when we have reached the end of our days. I hope we all get whatever it is we believe in. Be well, Rodney
