"Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will forever haunt me."

I seriously wish I had learned this version of that saying when I was a child instead! It would have made my life a little easier because if I said that to someone that was bullying me, it would have made them think. I've been bullied my whole life! By almost everyone in my life! I've been called "worthless" "nothing" "lazy" "childish" "irresponsible" "waste of time" and here's the kicker my MOM said to me, "you are not my daughter".  Do they not know how much that hurts?!
HELLO!!!! WORDS HURT!!! A LOT!
Broken bones heal! Words, well, they stick and never go away!
I started cutting to deal with my stress level.  It helped me cope.  It was my way of controlling SOMETHING in my life.  I live with the scars everyday, even after I got clean.  The words and insults are still there, sometimes new ones come up.  And, I struggle with staying clean from cutting daily.
I went so long without even having one urge, not one.  Then, something happened and BAM! Urge after urge after urge. I'm scared and feel so alone.
The point I'm trying to make here is... words hurt! I live with it, daily. I'm doing my best just trying to not let the words get to me as much as they do.

Like I have told you before \"You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.\" What people say about you hurt a lot. But only you can choose the words you keep. I know that there is one big gentle giant who is very proud that you are his daughter and you know that I love you. Take only the words that will bring you up and push away the words that will bring you down. And remember whenever you need someone to make you feel worthy call me up.
