steroids, meniere's pressure points

It's been a rough last two weeks.  Hubby is out of town for an entire month, I have my 11 year old to look after, and this time of year when the pollen picks up is when my Meniere's goes nuts.  Had 2 episodes of full blown vertigo last week and was feeling really whacked out about how I was going to cope.  Then 2 things happened.  I saw my ENT and he put steroid drops in my affected ear.  Normally they give an oral course of steroids, but this way avoids the systemic affects of insomnia, hyperness, etc.  And since I already have a hole cut in my eardrum inorder to use my Meniett machine (which I recommend to anyone who has vertigo associated with their Meniere's), it was easy to do.  The steroid is supposed to reduce the inflammation that causes our symptoms.  It's not something you can do too often, but according to my ENT it can provide relief for a period of time when you really need to be functional.  I didn't feel any immediate effect.  Then a couple of days later I went to get a massage, and the therapist did what she called "pressure points" specifically for Meniere's.  Now, I feel rather like a dingbat saying this, but I walked out of there feeling like my old self for the first time in two months!  I don't know which to attribute the improvement to, but thought I would share the info.  As you can imagine, after feeling so whacked out I couldn't even write in my journal here, I'm elated to have that underlying feeling of nausea go away...you know...when you feel like any minute the vertigo might strike.  And all you want to do is lay around.  And it's too much effort to even wash the darn apple before you eat it.  I'm not saying I'm perfect now, still have the ringing and fullness and I'm still being extremely careful with sodium and being outdoors.  And I do know I'm still vulnerable to an attack.  But I'll say this...I've scheduled another massage with that therapist for next week!
