Steps on how you can fix error code 006 in Canon Printers

Canon printers are one of the most advanced printers available in the market today. Canon is a Japanese multinational company specialized in manufacturing photocopiers, cameras, computer printers, etc.  As being one of the most advanced printers it does face some technical difficulties. There are many reason s that might be responsible for the error code 006 & there are some simple solutions that can be used to tackle the problem.

Some reason for the error 006 might be an incompatibility with the device, incorrect process of entering the service mode when the printer is not in service mode, printer driver issue & printer cartridges and so on.

In very common, the service tool programs to rest the printer once the limit is reached. That means the service tool program allows you to use the waste ink pad that means it acts as a cleaner that is underneath the print head cleaner, its set when you print a lot of pages, the printer locks & rakes help. Error 006 is not easy to handle but still please go through the below steps that might help you to rectify the error without calling any technician-

First is to check the cartridge tools & connection

• Please check if at all the cartridge is empty since if at all it is empty it will give the same error 006


• Also please check the connections to the cartridge as a loose connection also might be responsible for the error

Next step will be to restart the service tool

• When you get to the service tool you could verify whether your printer is compatible with the same name as the tool can search compatibility. After checking this entire still if you are getting the error then please restart the service tool. If you face any difficulties in restarting the service toll you will have to call someone who is an expert.

The third step is to check the printer drivers

• Many times when you check if everything is working properly and the problem still continues, then you should uninstall and install again the printer drivers with the printer off until the software asks you to connect the printer again

The fourth step will be to check the service tool again

• Close the service tool


• Disconnect the USB cable from the printer


• Please wait for 10 seconds and then plug back the cable into the printer


• After this on Windows, click next when you see the “New Device”


• At last open the service tool

After this step also if you are still facing the same issue then troubleshoot via Download the service tool

• The first step will be to download and install the Service tool canon


• Then enter in the maintenance mode with the printer by the following way


• Power off the printer


• Then connect the USB cable to the printer at the central unit


• Then hold on the “Resume” button and press power button


• Now, hold this two while the LED power lights on


• Then release the resume button but not the power button & press the resume button for 6-7 times


• Now release the two buttons, LED will flash wait until it stops, now you’re in the maintenance mode


• Then activate the service tool for your Canon printer


• Please select the right USB port in “USB Port”


• In this section “Counter value” (%) please select the number the closest of the counter number and select on “SET”
