Stephen's Surgery

In August of 2014 my 6 year old son started having severe back pain and nausea. He was diagnosed with severe hydronephrosis (swelling of the kidney due to back up of fluid) caused by a UPJ (ureteropelvic juntion) obstruction and in September underwent laparoscopic pyeloplasty to correct the problem. It was a miserable, painful time and was very scary for him. Post surgery I noticed his color stayed off (he appears washed out with dark circles often), and his energy level was way down, but we assumed it would take a while for him to bounce back. Now 4 months post surgery, an additional ultrasound and kidney scan shows the problem has not been fixed. Though a blockage was repaired during his initial surgery there is apparently another blockage elsewhere or scar tissue blocking the way.  My now 7 year old now has to undergo an open pyeloplasty so the surgeon can see the entire kidney and hopefully correct any and all blockages or problems.  The doctor has already warned us this surgery will be MORE painful for him than the last and that the recovery time will be considerably longer. I am absolutely terrified for him, both having to undergo the surgery and for the pain he will have after. I am in desperate need of encouragement and positive thoughts if you have any to spare!! I would also welcome any ideas on ways to make a week in the hospital and 6 weeks recovery time any easier for him!
