Staying Informed
Should I attempt to stay informed on the current events of Coronaville? Being blindsided by my ignorance of the news in China was nothing shy of traumatic. By mid April, 2020, the crew members onboard this little ship of fools was grieving the loss of their world more intensely than the recent loss of Mommy and Daddy. Our course seems to have stabilized since then, but the Corona bosses are still rumbling ominously. We still hear threats of another global shutdown in every Public Service Announcement. Interpretation of the latest science studies, marshal laws, etc., are less consitent than a Wold Religion Convention. Did our preferred diety mean this or that?
For the sake of giving the children a solid, predictable platform a five year old can understand, I feel compelled to stay informed, but the research is getting more muddled and emotional by the social media blitz. The folks who scare me the most are the ones who claim to be unaffected. The Justers. My hyper-vigilance feels The Justers as emotional time bombs who could explode at any time, without warning. Does the chemical composition of the explosion matter? The Booms are equally lethal if you are standing next to them. Whatever political signs I am carrying will evaporate in the explosion. Maybe. Cardboard is light enough that the incindiary drafts could carry it upward like a kite in strong gust of wind.
More and more I believe staying informed is triggering my anxiety horrifically. For this one, I believe I need to leave the mood icon on the rapid cycling median. Staying informed across The World Wide Web is quite literally all over the map. Which cloudy it am I dancing with today?
Off Topic: Whenever my graphic thinking process attempts to vizualize "The Cloud," I find myself dodging a rain of servers and routers falling from the sky. "Hey, hey, you, you, get off of my cloud. . ."
