It has been over a week since my last gambling disaster and I am still avoiding everyone. My mom is in the hospital and I cannot bring myself to visit her in fear of meeting others. My checking account is still a minus balance and my sources have dried up.I know that things will eventually work out, but, I am tired of going through all the hurt andthese rejected feelings. Even I though I am a strong believer in "shit happens, life goes on",It is getting harder and harder to keep on going.Well, I got it off my mind, now what?

You just keep believing that things will work them selfs out. Go see your Mother and hold your head high. We are sick people trying to get better, you have taken a big step to your start to recover. Just remember one day at a time.

Now what? One day at a time, is what now, part of what, anyway. \"Shit happens\" and \"life does go on\". I guess you could say my addiction to gambling, was shit that happened, it was a pretty ugly existence. Life goes on without that crap now, without gambling. Can you give your mom a call? Going to see her would be even better, but a call would be better than no contact at all. Tell the \"others\" what you told us, maybe worded a bit differently, something like, \"I\'m here for mom, I can\'t be worried about what you think right now, could we talk about this later\"... I\'m a mom, so I know, if she\'s like most of us moms, she wants to hear from her kids when she needs some support, it\'s awful to be stuck in the hospital. Also, it\'s okay to keep your visit short, she also needs time to rest.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Ever hear that one before. No one said not gambling would be easy, at least not around here. By the way, CONGRATS ON YOUR 1ST WEEK...WAY TO GO...KEEP DOING WHAT YOU\'RE DOING, THE NEXT RIGHT THING...the next right thing, no matter how uncomfortable it might me, it\'s still the right thing, a good thing, that\'s not gambling...and also keep in mind it will get easier, please don\'t beat yourself up, and no matter what, never give up. I hope you mom is feeling better, you, too. Take care, and keep writing.
