Stasis
The high anxiety continues. I donae believe it is escalating, but I donae believe it is diminishing, either. I donae believe the anxiety is escalating, but the flavor has acquired weariesome over-tones. Enough, already!! Can we change the subject now?
"Stasis" is the word which has been percolating through my morning meditations. What the fuck does that mean? I hate it when mysterious non-sequiters bubble out of my psycho cauldron. When I began surfing for clues, a recently released movie dominated the search engine finds. Disregard, at least for now. I added the word, "biology" to filter out the movie ads. I have studied enough biology to be familiar with biological stasis and didnae see how it could apply, but it was a place to start. Dictionary definitions were among the top results in that search. Those definitions introduced me to "Political Stasis." A new one on me. My interest in politics is approximately equal to a politician's interest in biology. It isnae ever a great surprise to find a political theory I am unfamiliar with. Typically, I find political mysteries even less interesting than familiar, but there are exceptions to every rule.
At present, the bread crumb trail has me reading about Thucydides, the purported father of the "Stasis Theory." We see where it leads.

Stasis is a very weird word in many ways, richened mostly by its context, I've found. Supportive hugs as you sort. (And, hopefuly, stay warm.)
For sure, there is a humongous gap between the biology and political meanings of the word. Possibly even bigger than the diffs between the meanings of "holy" and "war."
Fancy Dancy word for "agreement".
Homostasis: The agreement of levels that all the different things must be at...for there to be life. (ph within such a range, etc.)
Politicians...all depends on how willing they are to work towards an actual agreement. For groups like school boards where books must be bought and students actually talk...some kind of an agreement/compromise is usually reached.
On a federal level...foot dragging by the opposite side is an art form. The "fault" doesn't lie in the politician, but in those that elected them. BUT...since those that drag the most and compromise the least get reelected over and over... I'd say that it's more a question of We Have What We Asked For.
So yes, ironically, we've achieved stasis with that too.
