Starting Somewhere.. over the rainbow.

Hello all! I'm Chelsey from New Jersey. I'm currently in a "limbo"-type situation with my body. I'm a 21 year old who should be at college, going out with girlfriends, and having a great outlook on life.. I should..
When I was 6 years old, my mother died from a rare, undetected cancer after only a year of being ill. My father quickly remarried and had a child with her. I was physically and mentally abused growing up with my new stepmom and my father never protected me. I guess it really wasn't his fault, I think he was still in shock everything was happening so fast. By the time I was 12, my father had an affair and we quickly moved to another state. 14 came around and I found my first love. I confided in my [new-new] stepmom with certain things.. which she opened her mouth and told my entire family. I was disowned. I started self-harming myself and developed my depression, as well as insomnia. My friends introduced me to pain killers, which I got addicted to rather quickly. After going to inpatient and outpatient rehab, I found God.
I quickly became very against bad influences, and by senior year of high school, I was clean from everything for 2 years. My stepmom grew more angry with me. Apparently she was so taken-back by my previous actions that she wanted me out by my 18th birthday. Luckily, she waited until graduation, 5 days after my birthday, to kick me to the curb. I started house hopping from friend's houses, lived with my grandmother a few months, and finally, my deseased mother's best friend took me in for 2 years. I quickly found out, something was very wrong with my body.
The first summer living there, I couldn't eat or go out.. I lost 30 pounds in 2 months.. I noticed aches in my body and of course my stomach. After summer was over, I was fine, although the pains and aches came and went.
I met my husband in December of 2010 and quickly fell in love. I moved out of my family friend's house and moved into a two-family apartment with him. Anxiety at night got worse, so I started seeing a psychiatrist. Amazing! Xanax does wonders! But, I was diagnosed with things I wasn't expecting.. post traumatic stress disorder was a big one. Soon after, I went to my MD and found I had IBS and fibromyalgia.. a very serious case.
I tried medication for my depression, PTSD and fibro, but nothing seemed to work..
This past February, my husband and I moved again, into a beautiful apartment! I was so thrilled! Such a better enviornment for me.
March, I applied for disability. It's been so hard for me to work with all my aches and pains at this point. I'm in pain 24/7.. It's extremely annoying. Sadly, I'm still working on getting disability, so wish me luck!
I'm really looking to start massage and physical therapies, also acupuncture and seeing a chiropractor for my spine. If anyone out there has had any success with this! :)

Sounds to me like you are a true survivor, even though you are so young!
I am pleased you have a husband to care for you.
With time and good doctors you can work through your issues.
What you have been through must have affected both your body and your mind. Be kind to yourself and give yourself what you need to get better.
Overcoming such challenges in a positive way develops good character.
Hugs, Ellie x
