Starting gabapentin
So I was able to fill my rx for gabapentin. I started on Saturday night, and I will take one every other night for a good week, per doc recommendation, to get me used to it.
It didn't really seem to do anything, or at least the night I took it I didn't notice anything. I was about to go to bed, I mean literally took it while sitting on my bed about to lay down for the night, so maybe that is why I didn't notice anything. I was asleep before it could kick in, I was so exhausted.
Perhaps if I take it earlier in the evening, I will be able to tell what it does to me? Perhaps. I do know that the next morning I seemed to be in worse pain as the drug was wearing off. My skin was burning all over the place, as opposed to waking with minimal or no burning sensation.
I was hoping, yet not hoping, the gabapentin was the cause. Because if it is, I can say hey it didn't help, it only made me burn worse the next day. I can go off it and not feel bad. I would rather stay off drugs on a regular basis anyway. However, if it does help, then I can say, I found something that works and now I can begin to get my life back.
But that lyrica had me all messed up, and even though I still have plenty of that, I am not sure yet if I want to throw it out or not. Don't want to take it but hate to toss it because I had to pay about $60 for it, and that was hard to come by. The gabapentin cost me $14.
Tonight I will try to take the gabapentin, even though I just don't want to. I would rather go with rx meds when I just have to. I don't want to get addicted, or go through withdrawal if I can't afford to get it, stuff like that. Plus whatever side effects. And what if it doesn't do anything for the pain? I will have put some stuff in me that didn't even work.
Guess if I truly want to feel better, I should do what I can to get there, even if it means prescriptions. I often think, if it was cancer, or diabetes, or lupus, would I take the drugs? Why not with FMS? I don't know, I just feel like I want to beat htis thing without having to go that route as much as possible.
We shall see.
