Located in central Taiwan, Sun Moon Lake is one of the only natural lakes in the country, which takes its name from the shapes formed on either side of the water by the dividing Lalu Island. It’s also the largest and arguably the most beautiful Taiwanese lake, with an indigenous history that dates back thousands of years. Horseshoe-shaped Shifen Waterfall is one of the most famous falls in Taiwan. Torrents of water plunge into a deep pool and raise a shroud of mist that creates a rainbow effect on sunny days.

Disembark from the boat this afternoon and proceed to Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in Taiwan. Stroll around the monastery on a walking tour and learn more about Buddhism as you explore this sacred place.

You will be on a bus tour to travel around the Lake and visit the Wenwu Temple also known as Literature-Warrior Temple, dedicated to Confucius as Master of Pen and to Kuan Ti as Master of Sword, Holy Monk Shrine and Ci En Pagoda. Enjoy natural hot spring at the Fleur de Chine Hotel, Sun Moon Lake. You can also enjoy the walking trails, biking, hiking or boating at the lake.
On the way you will also enjoy beautiful small lakes, home to many different species of water birds. Our guide/driver Allan was very knowledgeable on the tour including history of Taiwan. Had a good command of the English language and well traveled too. He was very attentive to our needs and could answer our questions very well. It was good too that he brought us to a good local restaurant to taste home cooked Taiwanese food.
Maybe get to know the beautiful Dutch countryside on an optional excursion. Enjoy a leisurely morning in Paris before heading to Brussels, capital of Belgium and major centre of European politics since WWii. Leave the plains of the Veneto region behind and drive northward to spot the spectacular peaks of the Dolomites. Later, cross over the Europa Bridge and Brenner Pass into Austria to reach innsbruck in time to see the famous golden roof, emblem of the city. Be awestruck by the vastness of the natural reserve and stand on the most southern tip of the island at Maopitou. Don’t miss the Eluanbi Lighthouse, also known as ‘The Light of East Asia’ as its light intensity is one of the most powerful along the Taiwan coast.
