South Yarra Japanese Restaurant
The 70-seat diner is spread out across 350sqm of sleek marble flooring and features a dedicated Yakitori bar with charcoal Josper grills that churn out skewers of chicken, seafood and vegetables. At Saké Hamer Hall, premium produce and precise Japanese craftmanship underscore menus that are designed to be shared and impossible not to enjoy. Japanese food will never be a trend in Melbourne, thanks to how delicious it is.
The staff don't really talk much and this can be nice if you don't want to be hassled. It can get pricy if you over order and this tends to happen as every looks and sounds yummy. Our focus is to serve authentic Japanese sushi with freshness and quality assured fish, Japanese ingredients and rice that often underestimated. Yakikamilocated fine dining japanese restaurant on Toorak Road in South Yarra is an opulent escape to a world of premium grade wagyu, flame-grilled Nomad chicken Yakitori and top-shelf sake. Sake and '80s throwbacks flow freely in this neon-lit eatery. It breaks the mould with nori tacos, ramen gnocchi and a list of fun cocktails infused with Japanese flavours.
And there’s a function space upstairs big enough for 60 salarymen. As with all izakayas, the food menu is designed to pair well with drinks. There are over 80 sakes at this slick Japanese bar and eatery, which is housed in a former bank. Unlike many izakayas – which can get quite dark – Kumo's space is light, open and airy.

Neil Perry's Japanese diner serves up a unique version of contemporary Japanese cuisine. The room is sleek, the menu – which is very seafood heavy – is fun and the drinks list is too. The hushed, reverent atmosphere here is well suited to owner-chef Koichi Minamishima's awe-inspiring knife skills. He works with both local seafood and fish flown direct from Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo to produce his peerless sushi.
