Song I Wrote

Well, I finally got around to recording and posting this.  It's a little instrumental song I wrote over a year ago, and I thought it reminded me of my wife.  I got my guitar out the other day, and started playing this song.  It's only about 40 seconds long, so it's no opus by any means.  Be warned though, this was done in one take and it has a few flubs in it.

Click on the title "M song with echo" and it should play.  The other song was done about 5 years ago.  Someone challenged me to make a heavy metal version of the Harry Potter Theme, and that was the result.  The timing is terrible on it, and I was just learning to use the recording software.
I know, I know.  I'm not planning on quitting my day job anytime soon!

Pretty cool, Tim! Makes me wish I could get rid of \"the claw hand\" and start playing better on my piano. I took the keyboard on vacation, but didn\'t play as much as I\'d hoped. What kind of multi-track recorder do you have? I got a Fostex for a friend of mine and thought it was the coolest thing ever. I didn\'t even know they existed until he told me about them. Keep up the music---it\'s good for the soul. CJ

My recording set up is kind of primitive. I record directly to my computer, using a software program called Audacity. The interface between the computer and the guitar is a multi-effects guitar processor (Line 6, PodXT). I plug one of my electric guitars into the POD, and the POD gets plugged into the computer with a USB cable. I can lay down one track, rewind it, hit play, and record another track while that one is playing. The latency is kind of bad though. The stand alone units, like the Fostex, are much better at this since they have their own processors. Thanks for the listen, and for not telling me I suck!

Thanks, you guys are too kind. Your comments make me feel a little better about all the hours I\'ve spent plunking around on the guitar. I have to agree about music being good for the soul. I really love music, all different kinds. It\'s just that since Melissa died, I\'ve lost some of the passion. I expect it to come back eventually, because it is a part of who I am. It probably will just take time.

Thanks! Always like the feedback. Carol, those two songs are on opposite sides of the spectrum, huh?
