Something to report on!
Yup, I finally have something to update you all on! I went to see my GP today and we discussed metformin and if it's an option for me. I told him I did some research after he mentioned it and told him what I'd read. He pulled out his smartphone and did some research for dosages and read off some stuff to me that he found for metformin use. In the end, he agreed that it's worth a shot. So, I'm now taking a low dose to get me started, I take 250mg twice a day.
In two to three weeks I'm to go for a blood test, which he's already given me the lab form for. Then I'll go back to see him about a week after the blood test. If it's not lowering my blood sugars too much (which it shouldn't seeing as I have impaired glucose tolerance) we'll determine if I need to bump up to a higher dose.
So, yay. Something is happening!
Oh and a TMI/gross yet funny moment happened while in my GP's office. We were talking about treatment options IVF was mentioned. Then we got talking about how you can't choose your genetics. Randomly my GP decides to tell me that when he was living in Montreal he was a sperm donor. Thanks Dr. B, I didn't need that info.

Forward movement is great!! I\'m excited to hear how your tests come out in a few weeks. Fingers crossed for good results.
I am strangely curious as to why your Doc decided to share with you that he was a sperm donor?!?!? Was he making you an offer?!?! haha JK Guessing he was commenting because of your genetics conversation but yeah, thats pretty random to know about your dr. LOL
It was because of the genetics conversation, as he followed the \"When I was in Montreal, I was a sperm donor...\" comment with how intense their genetic screening is. I laughed and though I felt awkward, said \"Yeah, that\'s the only time parents can choose the genetics of their kids, when they\'re using a donor.\" Very random and quite awkward to know this info about my GP.
I told my mum and she kinda shuddered and went \"Just imagine a bunch of little Dr. B\'s running around!\". I should note that we have a up and down history with my GP, who has been my GP for almost 16 years now and he\'s quite the odd duck.
Yay! I\'m so glad you\'re making progress. With IF, every step forward is so important :)
Glad you GP is being proactive with your treatment, I hope the metfromin does the trick! XO
