Something Negative Has Been Posted...
I've been getting a ton of SPAM lately with the subject that (in some variance) is: "Something negative has been posted on your PERSONAL online file!"
Most have been thrown in SPAM, which I rarely check (usually only if I'm missing an email that should have come through) but one made it through, so I decided to see how many were in my SPAM folder.
In the subject and/or message there's always something like this: "At approximately (11:00am EST Monday) NEGATIVE listings were posted on your personal information file online."
My "personal information file"... really!? My "personal information file" would be... uh. HERE. Heheh. If there's anything negative (and there is) then it's from ME. Silly spammers.
I am not sure what people are afraid got posted or what they're afraid people will see or HOW on earth they think they can remove whatever was posted or prevent it from being posted again (if it was even possible.) I really don't know who on earth thinks there's an online personal information file on every person in the world out there that just anyone can access except for the stuff we control, anyway.
So weird. So nonsensical. But clearly it must be a scam that works or I wouldn't be bombarded with it. Someone must be clicking the links (and probably paying big bucks to either see what was said or to have it removed?) Are people really that gullible? Do we care SO much about what other people think that we just stop thinking ourselves?
