Some Sicko Used This Dog for Target Practice!

A postal worker in Jefferson County, Texas came across poor Stubbs on the highway and immediately posted on Facebook looking for help. Pups in Peril reached out to him and arranged for Stubbs to be checked over at the Wilcox Veterinary Clinic.

An exam and x-ray revealed this beautiful boy was rescued just in time.

He is riddled with bullet wounds, his spine and pelvis are broken, and part of his tail is missing as a result of this torture he has been put through.

Vet Brady Hanson at the Clinic said that Stubbs has been shot with at least three different types of bullets! It is just unbelievable that anyone would think to do this to an innocent dog!

Three-year-old Stubbs is so underweight that he can barely stand — he should weigh 70 pounds for a dog of his size but is only a tiny 42! So on top of shooting this poor dog repeatedly, some monster thought it was a good idea to starve him as well. Did that make him an easier target?

Stubbs is trying so hard to walk and wag his tail, and it is heartbreaking to see. He is dehydrated, anemic, full of hookworms, and his stomach was completely empty, so who knows when this poor boy last ate. 

Stubbs is now in safe hands, hooked up to IV fluids, and working through a course of antibiotics, as well as on medication for his pain. His appetite is returning, so after a few days of rest, Stubbs will be cleared for vital surgery to fix his numerous injuries. Stubbs will need to be medically fostered while he recovers, and then he will be ready to find a forever home. Stubbs, you are beautiful, and we can’t wait to see you when you are fit and healthy again!

There just aren’t words for this. To think that a person intentionally shot this dog repeatedly for sport is beyond understanding. Without help, how much longer would Stubbs have survived this abuse? How many more animals are going to be tortured before our laws change enough to protect them?
