Some good news at last...well, sort of

Well, I had the pleasure of seeing my GI doc yesterday and usually that's a chore for me.  Usually I don't get much info out of him and it's very hard to talk to him.  He does have a partner that used to see me on occassion and I always looked forward to that, but she seemed to disappear for awhile.  Yesterday instead of seeing my regular doc I saw her.  What a relief!  She's so open and warm and caring and I feel pretty ok asking her things I wouldn't ask him....things that concern me as a woman with this disease.  She said some of my questions she could not answer but would do some research and let me know....that's good enough for me.  Also, she said my last lab tests were all very encouraging.  She did say that of course I can do very well for a long time and suddenly go downhill...not what I wanted to hear, but I knew that anyway and I do appreciate her candor regarding the subject.  She said after my new lab results come in they will see where my ammonia levels stand and see if they need to mess with my Lactulose and Xifaxan....she also apologized for my other doctor messing with the dosages so much.....I told her that medication was evil and wrong and this produced a nice smile and laugh from her.  She told me she knows this but it's what needs to be done.  She also told me not to stress too much about my next MRI at the end of the month.  Often times, she said, they see patients with nodules or cysts on thier livers and more often than not they are nothing to worry about.  This is the same thing the doc at Walter Reed told me, but it was very nice to hear it from another doctor.  So...all in all I am feeling pretty positive right now....too bad I'm not actually feeling great physically.  I think my trip to Ohio wore me out....I missed my naps and rest times, and on the way home I had to sit on the runway in the plane for more than 4 hours due to weather and it did a number on my legs...they are still very sore and I keep getting terrible leg cramps.  I know I should break down and put on my lovely and very sexy stockings the doc prescribed for circulation (has anyone ever worn those things?  They are impossible to tolerate unless you live in Arctic temperatures!).  So...that's the latest and greatest and I hope only for more positive things to come.  I know for sure that my husband is my guardian angel, but I also know there is someone else up there watching over me and keeping me safe.  What a blessed feeling :)Many hugs and prayers.....CA
