Some good news
Steve and I went to the pain clinic for some injections into the rib area yesterday. Three to numb the area and three with the medications. The doctor called them crystals and said it would take about 5 days for them to dissolve! He would begin to get some relief then. He is scheduled to have 3 more injections with the crystals in 2 weeks. I have never heard of this, have any of you? I pray this works. He has been in such pain that I have had to do everything for him. I don't mind but yesterday I started taking a cold and now feel like "warmed over dookie" Hah, bet you northern and western girls have never heard that phrase!!! Not too proud of it myself! In other words I feel really bad!
We got some good news this morning. Steve's creatine was better that a few weeks ago. It is down from 3.7 to 2.7 !! That is wonderful news and I truly believe that it came from being back on the Sutent.! He went from being on this drug for 5 years to being off for appox 6 weeks. I can think of no other reason for it to jump up that much. At any rate we are so pleased to have some good news for a change. I asked the doctor if being off the Sutent could have made it jump up and he said " Steve is out there on his own, he is one of a kind, I have no data to compare him with" meaning no one had been on the Sutent that long. Praise God!
I have a prayer request, Our oldest daughter is having some difficult times now. She has been sick about 3 weeks with the weirdest of symptoms. She has been to 3 doctors and will see another one on Monday. I won't get into it now but she really needs your prayers. Between her and Steve I have worn myself down, mentally and physically.

I\'ve never heard of this new treatment either. I\'ll be anxious to hear how well it works for Steve. Please keep us informed.
When Ray was on Sutent (14 days), his creatine went up to 6.9. According to our oncologist, it can cause kidney damage in some people. As you know, Ray was one of the unlucky ones...and still only has 20% function in his one kidney. The good news is that it seems to be working pretty well. His creatine is now about 2.4. Thank the Lord that those old kidneys are pretty tough organs.
Sorry to hear that you are feeling yucky. I can see you with that can of Lysol now.

Yes, Steve is a one in a million with that Sutent. I wonder if he will be written up in the medical books? Seriously - five years on that drug must be very very unique! Glad they keep coming up with new ways to keep pain at bay and very happy for Steve that is is something of a drug that won\'t affect his tummy or his brain. Hope it works well for him.
Please keep us posted about your daughter. As I too well know it is a mom\'s nightmare that one of our kids is ill. Hoping that it turns out to be something benign and we will get another \'good news\' alert from you!

Wanda, I am sorry that you feel like run over road kill, ( a western term) for how you are feeling. You know, you need to really take care of yourself. You are the driving force behind all things. I have had nerve blocks for 20 years to manage pain, but have never heard of crystals. I will have to ask my Dr. about them. As long as they work and give Steve some relief, thats what matters. I will say a ton of prayers for your daughter. It is always so frustrating to have something that the Dr\'s have no idea what it is. Hence the tern the \" practice\" of medicine. Steve is truly one of a kind and setting records for the Sutent. Prayers all the way around my friend. Please take care and feel better real soon. Hugs Jane
