So this is what possible hyperstim feels like!

I just got home from ultrasound #3 of this week.  I have a total of 42 (FORTY TWO!!) follicles measuring 8mm or greater.  I have several in the 13-15 range, one at 18 and everything else somewhere in between.  26 are on my right side and 16 on my left.  I am going back for another ultrasound tomorrow.  I am really, really hoping to trigger by Sunday for a Tuesday (at the latest) retrieval.  I am so uncomfortable and everything hurts.  I do have to say though that I am not showing any other signs of OHSS--no nausea, diarrhea, weight gain (besides my usual post-Tday dinner pooch), etc.  I am drinking 3 liters of water a day, and 1 liter of G2 Gatorade for the electrolytes.  I'm eating a minimum of 60g of protein a day, and the rest organic cereal, vegetables and fruit.  I am sick of chicken, I would love some ice cream, a chocolate chip cookie and a diet coke (and a glass of wine, a BIG one) but I am confident I have done everything right from the beginning so I won't ever look back and think "if only I had done..."  The nurse said to keep up the liquids and protein and I should be ok.  I remain optimistic that this will work and by next week I will be pregnant!  I just can't wait to get over this extreme uncomfortableness.
In other news, a warning to everyone--I had a bad needle this morning!  One of my insulin needles that I bought at the local pharmacy (the 14 day kit of Lupron does not have enough FYI) wasn't sharpened correctly!  I couldn't tell by looking at it, but after trying to stick myself twice and just poking my skin both times and not having the needle go through, I was bleeding and crying.  Thankfully DH hadn't left yet and he came upstairs to see what was going on.  I had him do it, and I knew he was thinking I was being overly emotional for no reason.  After it felt like he stabbed me with it (and it killed, I have thought the Lupron was quite easy), his eyes got bigger.  He said that that was way harder than the bigger stims needles go in and something had to be wrong with it.  He said it wasn't me at all and that it felt like trying to put a dull pencil into my stomach.  At least I knew it wasn't me!!  I asked the nurse this morning and she said it's a fluke but it CAN happen.  She recommended if that if I ever just poke myself and it won't go through to just throw that needle away and start all over.  Good to know now!
Finally, I thought I had hit rock bottom last week with my cat dying very unexpectedly in the midst of this IVF cycle.  Yesterday we realized my grandma (who lives with my mom and stepdad) looked very yellow.  After the dr. visit and a ton of bloodwork, they are saying 2 weeks before they know anything.  Obviously jaundice is a sign of possible liver failure so it can't be good.   Even her eyeballs were yellow.  She seems to be in good spirits but the thought of waiting two weeks to hear a possibly bad prognosis seems way worse than the 2ww.  Maybe that's God trying to give me an important distraction in the meantime.
I am glad DH is coming with me for tomorrow's u/s.  I can't wait for him to see how crazy all those follicles look all crammed in there together.  Here's hoping I trigger on Sunday!  I am hopeful this is it.  God has blessed me in so many ways through this whole process and I'm extremely grateful for the strength and patience he has provided.  God is great!
