"One of the great deceptions that paralyses the Body of Christ is the passivity that comes from the misguided belief that God is controlling everthing. Surely, God is ultimately over all things, but he has created us, and allowed fallen (and redeemed) beings a certain amount of autonomy which accounts for all the evil in this present world. We believers must use our God-given spiritual authority to aggresively resist and overcome the evil in this age. If we don't, the devil wins by default. The traditions of man make void the Word of God. Any doctrine of God's sovereignty that says you don't need to resist the devil and his works is a false doctrine."
"Many sincere believers struggle in their walk with God because they grew up with a theology of the extreme sovereignty of God. When I was a young believer I was taught that everything that happened was filtered through the hand of the sovereign God. This resulted in much misery. "If God allowed this, I must figure out what He is trying to teach me." This concept created a passivity in my walk. When I got some better teaching, I realized that God is not behind evil in any way and I began to learn how to resist evil like the enemy it was. I no longer accept evil as something from God, but I now resist with all the ability that God grants me. I believe this is a much more Biblical way to look at life."
