SO pathetic it's funny!

So Thursday night, I had another one of my headaches, if you can call it a headache, that term is definitely an understatement. Anyway it comes on very suddenly and feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat in the base of my head/neck. When I started vomiting and couldn't even stand and I had collapsed to the floor, I knew I needed to go to the E.R. My sister shows up with impeccable timing and takes over my now basket case kids and calls my mother-in-law to come get the kids and my mother to meet us at the E.R. When we get to the E.R, my sister runs in to grab a wheel chair and when the E.R. Tech notices that she's struggling to get me out of the car he runs out to help get me to the wheel chair as I'm vomiting all over myself. Lovely right!?Now here are the best parts! They are doing my triage and guess what the nurse knows nothing about a syrinx or syringomyelia! Nothing, never even heard of it! She was still so confused even when my mot
her explained it in lay-mans terms. Then they took me back to my room. The Dr, who was ever so bright, came in. I told him what I was feeling and my diagnosis and the last recorded size of my syrinx. He told me he wasn't able to see that MRI so he wasn't gonna take it as gospel. My mom told him about the MRI, my neurologist and my waiting for the neurosurgeon appt. This Dr, dismissed everything my mom told him and ordered Ativan, Phenergan, an IV and blood work, after he told me that I was drug seeking. I held up my purse and told him that I had plenty of different pain meds in my purse and I didn't want anymore so how could I be drug seeking? Now this guy that doesn't know how to start an IV comes in and sticks me 5 times! Then he finally gets the IV in. I didn't even feel any of it, the feeling in my arms is that far gone. They draw the blood and then pump me full of Ativan and put the Phenergan in the IV. I'm out like a light! The next thing I remember was a box being around my head and I was swinging and almost as suddenly as I start coming to, I'm out again. According to my mom, I was put into a portable MRI and they put this cage thing around my head to hold it in place and I woke up because I was cold and I felt trapped. They doped me up and out I went again. It must have been a lot of Ativan because they released me at 1230 am and I didn't wake up for another 12+ hours. Well, the MRI that was done on the portable MRI, to which I understand is not as accurate and it was done without contrast, showed my syrinx to be from my C4-C5 and 1mm in diameter. From what I've been told they don't shrink. Anyone else have this happen? So they release me with a diagnosis of a headache! If I look at it with humor, I feel better that some people are really stupid!
