So much on my mind - so much out of my control
DS Friends - this is just a rambling journal on my part. Not thoughtful or inspirational, just "crying over spilled milk" :) I can't sleep again. 3am and I'm awake - again. Night after night I wake up in the middle of it. I have so much on my mind it just never stops. I am concerned about all the money I owe people. Money I don't have to repay and don't know for sure when I will. If my stbx doesn't get called back to work on Jan. 5th as promised, I don't know what I'll do. So far he's still keeping up with the bills, with my help, as little as it is, but I don't know for how long this will last. He didn't pay the condo payment on Dec. 1 and I got a call from our landlord. I don't know if he just forgot or because "hunting season" is here and hunting is ALWAYS a priority over everything else. When I called him though, he did send in a check - 8 days late. That scares me. What if he can't pay it next time - what do I do then. My car breaking down took a huge chunk of cash. My stbx and his parents did help, but I had to chip in what little I had and now I owe his parents $300 for helping. That weighs on my mind. Just put it on my already growing tab. Get in line and take a number please. Christmas is just around the corner. I don't even want to put up a tree or decorations because I cannot give my kids a single thing for Christmas. To understand how much this bothers me, you have to know that Christmas was the only time during the year that I went all out for my kids. I love the feeling it gives me to see the joy on their faces that day when they come out and see all the presents. I know Christmas is not about presents but about Jesus Christ, but as you know our society places big focus on the giving part. I never put out the presents until they were in bed and sound asleep. Even now, though they are older, I still wait to put them out. They are always so happy that morning. But this Christmas will be devastating for me. Yes, they are old enough to understand, but it hurts me so deeply to not be able to give them anything. I have told them to expect nothing, but I think they might think I'm just kidding. I saw my stbx tonight. He came over to fix my son's Christmas gift from his girlfriend - a ping pong table. They put it together themselves and did it wrong so the stbx fixed it. We talked briefly before my son got home from work and I even told him that "he should be happy this Christmas". He asked "why" and I said, "because you've always had a problem with how much I spend on the kids for Christmas and this Christmas I won't be spending a dime". I told him "I'm not even putting up a tree this year" He didn't say anything as a reply to this. I also asked him to give them some money to buy each other a gift, this is our family tradition, and he said he would try. The only gifts they will get this year will be from Nana and Papa. Another thing on my mind is Christmas Eve. I told his mother that the 3 of us would come for dinner that night. Won't that be interesting. It will only be the 6 of us so the whole family won't be there, but I think it's going to be a strained dinner. My kids don't want to go at all, but Nana and Papa have been so good to all of us over the years, I don't want to punish them by none of us coming at all. I'm not worried about seeing my stbx, I know I can handle that, but I'm worried that sitting down as a family will be hard on me and the kids knowing that we're not a family any more. Maybe this will hit my stbx square between the eyes, when we get up and go home and he's left sitting there with his parents. Who knows. Another thing on my mind is that I want this divorce already over with. I talked to my attorney last week and she's going to set up a mediation meeting for us and him and his attorney, but I haven't heard anything from her since. I emailed her tonight asking about the status of the mediation meeting. The thing is, him being laid off right now doesn't help me. My attorney doesn't even want me working this 3rd part time job, but I have to. I'd be a poverty level if i didn't. How can this be my life after 23 years of security and happiness. Even though I get up every day and go try to go on with my life, I have so many things that are out of my control it's driving me crazy. At this point I can't even be in control of my own destiny because it's being controlled by my stbx and this divorce. Payday isn't until the 19th (9 days) and I don't have a clue how I'm going to last without any money until then. Even then I won't have money for long because I've got to give it to everyone else. I just want to start living a normal life again. As normal as possible without my husband. I'm getting over him and the hurt, but it's hard to move on without any money. Well it's 3:15 now and I'm starting to feel sleepy. I should be able to sleep until 6am when it's time to get up for work and do it all over again.

Chrissy, I wish I could be there to comfort you -- I have been where you are and know exactly what you are feeling. You might want to talk to your doctor about giving you something to help you sleep through the night. Without sleep, our bodies are subject to all kinds of stress, and too much stress can make us really ill. Ask for one of the new non-narcotic sleep medications - Lunesta worked great for me.
Chrissy, I know what your feeling. I think, we all feel the same way. It\'s scary not knowing what to expect or what\'s going to happen next. No money - just responsibilities. We shouldn\'t have to be going through this - we don\'t deserve this. I wish that I could take all of this away from you and make things right for you. I know that someday soon this will all end - I just pray - soon. Love you.
Chrissy I understand. I am there with you! With all the other stressors to have to worry about money too is insult to injury. I wish I could wave my magic wand and make it better for all of us, but I am sorry to say my wand is broken and I cant afford to get it fixed :-)!
Dont worry about those you owe money to, they knew when they helped you that payback wouldnt be immediate. Do what you can, thats all we can do.
Love you my friend
My heart is breaking for you. It is so hard to not only be going through a divorce, but then how it affects your finances, your children, your life, where you live, and the list just goes on.
You are a brave woman to do the Christmas thing with your stbx and your in-laws. I will be thinking about you.
The sleep thing is the worst. But it is so normal. Ihaven\'t been sleeping well until just about the last 6 months and there were still times now and then. But you have a lot on your plate. The finances is enough to keep us up and stressed. Hugs my friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
This is temporary Chrissy. Write down what you owe individuals and then put it away and let it go for now. There will be a time for that.
What you have is right now. Trust in yourself and God. Tell him what you need and leave it up to him. Keep taking care of yourself and your kids. Let God handle the rest.
Will this job offer bring you peace and stability? Will this job offer be permanent? If he can not guarantee work after tax season, this is just not the kind of job you need right now. I don\'t have all the details so I\'m not sure. Will this job replace all your other ones?
There are no guarantees in life. There are really no wrong decisions either. Do what is best for you. Trust yourself. Trust this will work out the way it should. Maybe this job offer isn\'t the one. Maybe it is just to let you know there are possibilities, there are other doors.
Get some sleep. Take care of yourself. Then you will be able to handle whatever comes your way. You have before and you will continue to do so.
Love ya!!!!!
Hon, I\'m sorry. Take some Tylenol PM right when you go to sleep. That helped me when I was having trouble sleeping.
I\'ll be thinking of you on Christmas Eve. You are very strong to be able to do it.
Hugs.
Just want to echo my support. Everyone has given you good advice already. I especially like Zen\'s idea of making a list and then putting it aside for now. Sometimes writing it all down gets it out of your head so you feel less burdened. Wish I could be more help, but I know you are strong enought to endure and thrive. God is there for you and so are we. (((((HUGS))))))
Chrissy, I\'m so sorry things are hard for you right now. I know it seems overwhelming, but writing down your thoughts, and sharing them here is so good for you. I think it\'s better than \"regular\" journaling because we can right back and tell you \"we\'re with you sister\"! I\'m so sorry for your financial strife - I can relate to that a little bit, but I\'ve been blessed in that area - either by friends and family, or by the guilt of my stupid ass ex and his wife (me and my kids refer to her as the \"cash cow\" - she\'s given him so much money to help us!). So know that your kids love you, and it sounds like your in-laws do too - that\'s wonderful. You\'re strong....and Christmas is just another day. You\'ll feel so much better when it\'s over...I know I always did. And to the rest of you ladies...you are awesome! You\'re so loving and supportive....good for you :).
Wow - I understand why you can\'t sleep. I am praying for you and sending positive calming thoughts. I know this is trying and saddening for you. Your children are the best gift you will have for Christmas and a dollar store is not a bad place to pick up a few stocking stuffers. I love you and anytime you need a shoulder mine is there. Please try to sleep and adopt a Scarlett O\'hara attitude - tell yourself you will worry about it tomorrow, and then tomorrow do it again!
