so many hurting

I went to a new dentist yesterday and she asked me if I have any children so I told her my only child passed away suddenly last year. She asked how so I told her he passed away from sudden cardiac arrest. She began to cry. I apologized if I shocked her, but I can never deny that Eddie lived.. She said she was crying because her best friend's son committed suicide at the age of 14 and the first "anniversary" is in January. I told her about DS and FMO and the other group for Families Affected by Suicide. I gave her my number and told her that her friend could call me if she wants to. She said she doesn't know what to say or do for her friend. I told her just listen, make her tea, just be with her, just love her. This child was this couple's only child. I know how that feels. We talked about faith and God and so I was there a long time, but I needed to be. I told the dentist to tell this Mom and Dad as this precious child's first Angel date approaches what my therapist told me that helped me. The worst has already happened.

I really do need to order some DS calling cards from Karen. I am amazed at how much suffering there is for moms and dads out there. I told her I would pray for her friend. She hugged me as I left the office. Sigh...
