So much......

A couple of weeks before the divorce, I was in a dark place.  I started to question if I was making the right decision.  Would I find someone to love me for who I am or would they use me like he did?  I have come to realize that I cannot go forward thinking like that.  He may have been horrible to me, but that does mean that the next man in life will be.  I have left that place and do not plan on going back.  I am now free from his abuse.  My sons are happier and we are in a good place.
My divorce was finalized August 20, 2014 at approximately 2:30 p.m.  My now ex-husband, was atrocious in court.  He accused me of using the pennies he gave me for support on things other than our sons.  He accused me of sleeping with his best friend and he denied having a girlfriend.  My best friend (who accompanied me for support) wanted to hit him with her car.  The judge granted me everything I asked for minus the alimony.  I did not want it because it would have drew our case out by another year.  I walked out of that court room with my head held high and a smile on my face.  The story gets better.
On Friday, August 22, 2014, I was informed that while I was in court with my ex-husband, him, his girlfriend and her 4 kids were thrown out of the apartment they were squatting at that they shared with her sister and kids.  My ex-husband was thrown out of his grandmother's house in July and he had no choice but to move in with her.  He and his new family are homeless.  A short time later that same day, my ex-husband called me at work.  I was shocked.  He sounded upset and sad.  He was just fired from his job.  He tried to lie about the reason, but I already knew why.  He kept violating the regulations and they finally got tired of it.  He wanted me to know that he would not have the money for the child support that went into effect the day of court.  I told him that was not my problem.  It gets better.  His girlfriend has no job and she is about to find out that he has been cheating on her with 3 other women.  I know it's wrong to feel happy for someone's misfortune, but he deserves all that is happening to him.  His best friend told me this is only the beginning of him hitting bottom.  Evidently there is more to this story, but he won't divulge all the information.  He just told me to be prepared.  What for?  I am his ex-wife.  His girlfriend needs to stay by his side and support him during his time of need.
I am in a good place and looking forward to what the future has for me and my boys.

It\'s not being happy for someone\'s misfortune..it\'s being happy that the jerk that hurt you and your kids got what he had coming to him. It\'s validation for you! You are free from living with someone who conducts himself that way! Hooray for you! If I was you I\'d be doing my happy dance all damn day.lol!

Yes, it\'s validation! You did the right thing by divorcing. You\'re better off without him. It\'s rare that we get to see someone who hurt us, actually suffer any consequences.

Boom! I know what you mean about the exes misfortune. After my wife called it quits and split on my daughter and I she was also canned at her job she had for 17 years. I was upset at first, but now that I have found out she is hooked up with my daughters boyfriends dad, who is a complete loser, I thought...well hello Karma! Her whole attitude has changed and im sure they forced her out of that job because of it. Well HE can handle her bills now, and her overdrafts that i have had too for years. She could never save a nickel so I know where this is heading...too bad but NOT MY PROBLEM
Congrats on the divorce and the payback :)

Aaah karma. I love it when justice is served. You\'re not celebrating his misfortune. You\'re celebrating your own good fortune in being rid of him. Congratulations!

Happy day and good riddance to them all. They ALL had a good thing (in us as partners, not to brag) and apparently WE weren\'t good enough so let them fumble there way thru life. NOT OUR PROBLEM anymore...Alleluia and thank you Lord!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the update, I was wondering how things were going for you.

I am so happy that you are free of him. It puts a smile on my face.
Sugar, you have taken the high road all the way along, based on what I have read. And he has done the opposite of that! I have not always behaved so well in the last year but I have tried hard to do the right things.
I understand feeling conflicted about their troubles and wishing them bad luck etc - I hate doing that...it really serves no purpose...but it is a human response. As soon as I have that sort of thought I say a prayer for him and for me (who knew this mess would lead me back to a good spiritual life).

They all have to hit rock bottom eventually! Good thing you don\'t have to deal with any of that mess! You can sit back, relax, smile, and have yourself a celebratory drink. And just think...all those times you were sad or wondering if you made the right choice karma was working her magic. hehe (as I move my fingers together devilishly!)

I want to thank all of you for your help during this time. In my area, the majority of the divorce support groups were faith based and I am not a religious person or very far away and I am currently using public transportation. Being able to confide in others who are going through the same situation, I believe, made me that much stronger and able to pull through this.
In those couple of weeks when I did not post, like I mentioned, I was in a dark place. The reality was, my marriage was actually over. Even though I was looking forward to the divorce, some part of my heart was feeling defeat. I am over that now. While I still think about him, those thoughts are becoming far and wide and I feel pity for him. As you all have said, he is no longer my problem and there is so much relief in that. Once again, thanks for all the support. I will be celebrating the new chapter in my life this weekend full of wine and food and it feels so good to look forward to the future.
