So Long, My Friend

You and my Dad were roommates,
That's how our journey began.
 As my Father passed away,
I reached out for your hand.
Some words were never spoken,
Nor did they need to be.
Each time I saw your face light up,
Meant more than words to me.
I felt my Dad was with me.
And he placed me by your side.
Not as a replacement, but a friend,
When a part of me had died.
We had many conversations,
And many laughs as well.
I'll miss our time together,
And of stories left to tell.
Although we were not family,
You were a dear true friend.
And now I say so long to you,
Until we meet again.

Nothing quite as precious as a good friend. Blessed were you to have known the love of a dad and the man who was his friend.
