So I'm trying this life as a single person thing

And so far it's fun. I went out Friday and Saturday night with various different friends and had a really good time. I have such awesome friends IRL, a small tight circle of amazing people all whom I've known for multiple years so there is a very strong sense of security, warmth and comfort from their presences. Plus they make me laugh and I can process with them, and believe me I did process to my friend at this Halloween party I was just at.
My friend knew my boyfriend and I both and thought I was 100% making the right decision. To leave him and not look back. I feel like my life will be much better not lived under his thumb. I am so glad I didn't marry him, because there was a window of time when I would have. I would have been very unhappy.
My friend at the party said to me that I needed to find "My Diego Riviera to my Frida Kahlo" and I absolutely love that, because what I am looking for out of my future relationships is not marriage or cohabitation ever. Diego and Frida always kept separate homes.
I don't really want to get married again. I got married once. I don't need to get married again. It wasn't working out even when she killed herself. Every relationship has a lifetime. At this point in my life I have decided that it's far better to live alone with a cat for the rest of my life then live with or marry anyone else ever again.
I'm very happy and independent and i don't feel like i want to get married again, I already had the whole experience, it just seems tiresome to go through it again and then probably get divorced anyway. I don't want to end up being one of those people who just gets married over and over. I did it once. I'm done.

I\'m glad to hear you have bounced back after you last oppressing relationship, nobody deserves to live under another\'s thumb, yet I think it happens fairly often.
