Posted on 02/28/12, 07:52 pmHad another TIA again... Just go home this evening.. Have been in the hospital since Saturday morning with no way to tell you guys !! Multiple falls during event. Ended up with subdural hematoma (brain bleed).. The social worker in Emergency took my daughter aside & asked her who beat me up ...Had to have a transfusion when I got there for blood platelets as Dr had just started me on Plavix and my blood wasn't clotting. Spent one day in Emergency, one day in ICU & 2 days on Neurological floor in stroke unit. Everything |I have is bruised or abraised.I am "in tech no color= purple , black , yellow, gray & orange like "a rainbow from the Dark Side ". Even have a black eye !
Am considering assisted care ~ any advice? Would like to try for something with room + computer.. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated..Would also appreciate some prayers. Please reply. GLAD TO BE BACK ! (ALSO Glad this wasn't my one-way trip !HUGSND

bookie, once again you've saved the day! I found the one care home that I was going to look up tomorrow and got me a great agency in the interim !! You are the best friend to do this home work for me as I am not feeling too wonderful right now !!TES ~ One of the hardest things to do as you age is to admit your limitations; one of the biggest challenges I believe is to reinvent yourself & develop the skills that remain. This past week, I helped the health ministry at our church to develop a fund raising/ PSA for a youth health fair event to merchants and organizations in our area. At the same time, I am disappointed in having to abandon some plans that i had long range for this site...Fortunately, for OTFN we have some very talented admins who are already proving their worth in my absence...Not only while in the hospital but in this past month of January after suffering a previous TIA on Jan23 when I spent 2 days in the hospital.I founded his site as a personal touch for those who wanted to use the threads for their own discussion and nurtured hand picked great admins who could provide substantial threads of their own to give OTFN substance.as well. I feel that OTFN is accomplishing that. I just wish more of our Good Neighbors would take advantage of raising their own topics without having to maintain the ardors of being the founder.I am going to be fading more into the background to maintain the daily grind and encourage others to create their own topics whatever y'all's want... Let's lighten up ~ add some gaieity & humor but keep our friendly controversry... I would ask those of our Good Neighbors that love Over The Fence to originate some topics here maybe even for the first time and keep our beloved neighborhood going !Afterall ~ I'm not dead yet ...NDY

I have had a "First-Alert style" bracelet ( General Electric Guardian Care ) for 3 yrs & have used it ( 9x ) to call for an ambulance... Until my Gastric Bypass Surgery 1-11-11, I had 6 surgeries in 2 yrs. ( I am also in a government program that is funded through a grant that wil fund my assisted care as they already have done for 3 yrs with my caregivers. The hospital wanted me to go right away but I want to CHOOSE where I go & want to break up my belongings prior to going.)There is a Catholic home that has a chapel right there that I can go to everyday but it is very difficult to get in there & there is a waiting list.. It will take me a couple of months to break-up housekeeping anyways.I don't think I will have a problem qualifying !It has been the prayers of my Friends who have brought me from a wheelchair to my feet & who will bring me through once again by God's Awesome Grace & Healing PowerPlease continue to pray for me... I know the Love of my God & my Friends & Good Neighbors will see me through this next phase of my life...I THANK GOD FOR ALL OF YOU !!! I LOVE YOU GUYS !!HUGS ~ NDY

OK ~ This is HOW it is ~ Talked to my case manager this morning... The only thing I can have is a bed in a nursing home with a nightstand & about $30 leftover from my Soc Sec check !! THAT is definitely NOT happening !!So, I will just not get out of bed in the morning until my care giver shows up & if they can't come here & get me up in the morning - They just won't work here anymore !! So far, my TIAs have only occurred while I am sleeping. My care givers only work here 6 hrs a day... I am alone for the other 18 hrs. Just leanin on the Lord & you guys again !! Like good old Roy Rogers used to sing, "I'm back in the saddle again ! "HUGS ~ NDY
(Just wanted to keep some sort of permanent record of what I said on my recent post in my journal here ... I guess the matter is closed now .. I will just have to work around it ...)

Am praying for a quick recovery!! Get well soon!!

Are you totally disabled or afraid to live by yourself? Maybe a friend or friends calling a number of times a day or you checking in with them during the day might be an idea. If not, maybe a visiting nurse would help. If you\'re like me, you don\'t want to leave your home. I enjoy my freedom too much and the idea of giving up Foxy. I\'ve thought about a care center several times when I\'ve had problems. Most care centers either have a community computer or computer connections in the room.
this isn\'t showing up right. i\'ll add a comment later?
