Snow, Snow, Go Away. Don\'t Come Back Another Day!
Thursday, March 26, 2009 - 10 AM Last week, the temperatures in Denver, Colorado were in the low to mid 70s. There were a few days, when we were even breaking records. All that has changed now. Today the ground is covered with snow, and although it is coming down somewhat lightly, all of that will change by later this afternoon when the weather forecasters are calling for us to be in blizzard conditions with up to two feet of snow by morning. I am somewhat concerned about whether my CNAs will be able to get back here and give me dinner this evening, as well is putting me to bed tonight. I am supposed to be on a priority list of persons who my home healthcare agency help no matter what, but I have not been with this agency long enough to know exactly how -- or if -- that will work out. Of course, if things get extremely bad, I can always sleep in my wheelchair overnight. It would not be the first time, and I am certain that it would not be the last one. As I was looking out my patio window this morning, I could not help but wonder why I had not gone to my sister's home. That was what I did a couple of years ago when we had bad weather. If I had done that last night, or even early this morning. I would have at least been assured of getting some type of meal tonight as well as other care that I need. Now things are a bit iffy for me. I should be able to get through this all right as long as electricity does not get knocked out. If that should happen, then it will be a whole new ballgame. That would mean that I would have to do without any heat for an indefinite period of time. I do not even want to think that far ahead. On the other hand, my Denver relatives have four-wheel drive vehicles, so they could probably drive to where I live, in case of some type of emergency. It is a good thing that I do not have any appointments through the rest of this week, because I doubt that I would be able to get anywhere. I am hoping for warmer temperatures throughout the weekend so that I can keep my doctor's appointment next Tuesday. Even that may be in some doubt, because another storm is predicted to hit us next week I am doing everything I can to send these storms to my DS friends in the eastern part of the country, but I seriously doubt if that will work out. Well, at least no one can say that I am not trying.

Why can you not phone your agency, and tell them you need a little extra assurance today? You\'re on meds, it\'s IMPORTANT THAT YOU EAT.

Call the agency? Are you kidding? The CNAs already told me this morning that if I get hungry there are crackers, water, and an apple on my kitchen table! I just have this funny feeling that I will not be seeing them again today or tonight. Of course, if that happens, I intend to call the head of the agency (who does not like me anyhow) and annoy the heck out of her. It may not get me any \"people\" help, but at least it will help me emotionally. LOL
I think the weather headed up North. The snow is falling FAST.

I can always order in some food from Pizza Hut, but fortunately, I did not have to do that last night. The woman who does my cooking was able to get here through the snow.
