Snow and Insomnia

So it is after 3 am and I am still awake.  I have done 7 crossword puzzles!
It has been an interesting couple of days.  We had 2 days of heavy snow and strong winds.  It finally stopped snowing around noon today.  Our power was out from 8:30 until 4 pm.  Since the snow was heavy, and it is so early in the season, the leaves on the trees were covered, got too heavy and trees and huge branches broke.  The trees fell on power lines - hence the power outage.  The city crews have been out clearing trees off the roads and power lines.  We have a huge elm tree that I see every day from our living room window.  It really got slammed.  At least 4 large branches snapped off.  I wonder if it will survive.
On the upside, I got a wink last evening at a board meeting.  I was getting frustrated as the usual people kept belaboring their pet issues and it was going on and on and on.  I looked down the table and there was Lisa - on a coke can!  It looked larger than life.  I just smiled and cheered up for the rest of the meeting.  I had looked through dozens of cans at the store, to see if her name was on one but couldn't find her.  No wonder - last night I needed a lift and Lisa came through.
Lisa:  Thanks for stopping by.  I love your winks.  I miss you always and love you forever,  Mummy

Love it that you received your wink and SO sorry about that early snow. I know how it was in SLC and we could be in the 70\'s and then the next day it was snowing. Take care and if you must drive watch out for the wing nuts that go flying by and have forgotten how to drive in weather such as this.

Hoping sleep becomes your friend again and I had one of those nights last night too. Just wakeful and often and awakened and felt as if I had run a marathon.

Love to Lisa and her wonderful mum today,
XO Joanie

Calgary is near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. The weather can be very erratic. In the middle of winter we get Chinook winds. The temperature can vary dramatically. It can be snowy and well below freezing one evening. In the morning, the snow will melting and slushy. Of course the warm wind does not last resulting in roads that are like skating rinks. This snow will be gone by the end of today. On Monday it is supposed to be in the high 70s! I am just glad that it is going to be sunny and warm on Sunday for our Neigbourfest.
Never a dull moment!

I\'m sorry about the crazy weather and power outage. Good thing it was still light out (excuse the pun) when it happened.
Very cool on the wink from Lisa! I love those winks. They are so comforting.

So happy, Lisa sent you a \"wink\". I was so thrilled to see \"star\" on a can too. I had just taken the star certificate to be framed, when I saw it. Makes you feel so happy :)

It is so hot & humid, here in Mississippi. Supposed to have thunder storms tomorrow :(

I have power outages here too, almost every time we have thunder storms. I just hope I don\'t have another tree blow down on my house !!
