Snorkeling in Mexico - Experiencing the Underwater Splendor of Mexico

In Cozumel we boarded a chrome form coach which was a mix between a freight truck decked out in camouflage and an army transfer vehicle. Our first stop was the popular surfing place, Chankanaab. Cozumel has the 2nd largest buffer reef on earth, and Chankanaab is known for their snorkeling. The water stages from 10 to 30 feet comprehensive and is marked by large coral formations, bright pink fans and a kaleidoscope of colorful underwater creatures.

Surfing equipment and necessary living vests are included, snorkel in cozumel  however the vests can be overpriced or deflated depending on what ambitious you are. I favor to help keep mine deflated therefore I could plunge down and investigate such things as the big statue of Christ that is probably 20 feet large and the top continues to be about 10 legs below the surface. It's actually sometime to behold.

Following roughly an hour in the water we dry down and boarded the safari bus for a lovely trip into the Faro Celarain Eco Park. I never knew this area of the area existed. I thought Cozumel was all mud, woods and buildings. Nevertheless the southern conclusion of the island is covered in pristine mangroves, noted by large brackish waters and marshes. We ended at a regional bright sandy beach for a delightful all you are able to consume buffet meal of fajitas, beans, nachos and beverages, including beer. The respite lasted about an hour or so, 1 / 2 of which we spent lazily relaxing on beach part hammocks while another area of the class decided to go for a dip in ocean.

Then it absolutely was back in the opera coach for a tour of the rocky western part of Cozumel where we stopped at a seaside side wagon for many person drinks created and offered in fresh coconuts and picture shoots on the large stone out-cropping. Our helpful and informative visit manual mentioned the area and how Cozumel got its name. In Mayan the word "Cuzamil-Pectin" means "Land of the Swallows," and Ixchel, Mayan goddess of fertility and love, was said to own sent swallows, her beloved birds, to the island in thanks for dedicating temples to her. Spanish explorers then converted the name from Cuzamil to Cozumel. Likewise their state of Yucatan got their name from the Spanish. After having arrived in the Yucatan they requested the Mayans what this position was called. The Mayan answered "Yuk ak katádeborah" indicating I do not realize you. The Spanish needed "Yuk ak katád" and managed to get Yucatan.

By the end of the journey we were slipped off in downtown Cozumel for around an hour or so of looking before it had been time to table the ferry again. Rather than searching Allan and I decided to party on ice treatment and enjoy the landscape of a regional park. We boarded the ferry to Playa at about 5pm and were happily surprised with live Latin music on the boat. Being somebody who likes calm I was initially resistant to having my peace upset, but I must claim the audio really was excellent and by the end I was listening intently. It really made the full time on the water move much faster.
