Smoking

I always have had a hyper-active metabolism.  I managed to get fat once, but it was an accomplishment. I didn't need to get too far from my couch vacuum before it melted away like ice cream on a sun baked sidewalk. Spare me the fashion envy, please. The fact that it is more fashionable does not make underweight any healthier than overweight.
At 57 years old, I finally have a manageable energy level. Sorta. It is still out of sync with the demographic norm. My casual observation senses my current energy level is somewhere near normal for a 20 year old. Again, spare me the fashion envy. That is ALLOT of energy to channel in the parameters of an empty nest housewife life. Yeah, my grown sons are still around, but I am trying hard to treat them like grown men. I do not believe they are a healthy channel for that energy. My husband's metabolism is far more mainstream. His 55 year old body porks out just watching that ice cream melt. He needs hours at the gym to match my couch vacuum energy. Trying to out-macho my hyper active energy levels is literally killing him. Even the most radical of smokers would agree I need to smoke outside, away from his asthmatic wheezing.
One of my current habits is to start each day meditativly chain smoking my way through some spiritual readings to pull myself out of myself, some number puzzles to order my thought processes, then some writing to focus my thoughts. That is the step I am working now. Puff puff.
Not even the most hysterical of the anti-smoking statistics contain any 100% conclusions until they reach the lawful declarations. The less than 100% statistics indicate exceptions to the rules. My hyper active metabolism renders an awful lot of the stastified wisdoms ineffective for me. The more aggressive the propaganda program, the harder I must work at adapting helpful intentions to my personal realities. I am sorry, but Nature herself placed me in the minority and what is good for the majority percentage is not good for me. You can argue with Mother Nature all you want, but there are more effective ways to use your time.
As typical, it took me three cigarettes to set aside the mainstream propaganda and arrive at my personal 100%. Cough, cough.
The Caped Quitters all agree that quitting will give me more energy. Did I mention that I was 17 before I could contain my energy well enough to sit through a movie? I was in my mid-twenties before I could contain that energy well enough to enjoy a movie. At 57 I still have more energy than a normal 20 year old in our sedentary norms. More energy is no more attractive to me than losing 40 pounds so that I can be 30 pounds underweight.
The Caped Quitters will be happy to know my lungs actually hurt. Right here in my personal 100%. Now to ground myself in my personal 100% solidly enough that I can act on my personal realities and quit fending off mainstream statistic-bangers.
I can do this.
