smellin' like a rose

T-Man had a meeting with PO yesterday.  He was late because he worked me over - begging me to stop to get him smokes and an energy drink.  I argued with him but relented after making a deal with him.  Haven't done that in awhile but he wore me down and then I thought - this isn't a battle I want to fight.
So he's late and didn't attend the two required AA meetings he was supposed to go to. But that didn't matter - he came out of that meeting "smellin' like a rose"!  Since he's leaving today to go on his college camping trip (out of state), going straight to school for the fun week of orientation, and then the next week he starts school ~ he won't be around here to go to AA.  He said he also told the PO that he can't possibly attend meetings at school because he has no transportation.  She said he's to find a counselor to see once a week and then he's to email her. Right.  I know that that won't happen but it's not my problem. On his court papers he was supposed to be assessed but his PO said that that might not happen until next summer.  Weird.  Thankfully, he appears to be doing so much better so I'm not terribly disappointed but it does seem strange when the courts have all these rules but T-Man (so far) has been able to wiggle out of them.
In the meantime I got a start on my PowerPoint presentation for the talk I'll be doing at the opiate convention.  So far I am very pleased about it.  I know, however, that I should be working on the first presentation my husband and I will be giving in few weeks.  It needs tweaking but I not sure where to start ~ that's half of it.

Blowup photos of PET scans of brains on various drugs vs. \'clean\' brains are always good! JAT!
America seems to be getting more aware of brains and their sensitivity is way greater than we thought: to injury by blows (football), and to injury by drugs, and even to poor nutrition. And then there\'s the idea that the prefrontal (frontal? the one involved in decision-making) cortex isn\'t developed till age 25 for some very odd evolutional reason...........so teenagers are at a disadvantage to making any decent choices.
Guess this last could apply both to thoughts for your talk, and about T-Man, whichever!
Sounds like you are cooking right along. I guess I make enough cynical remarks about our ASon that husb. still thinks I am more resentful than I am, AND husband thinks I am wrong. So now I am trying to temper what I let come out of my mouth. For instance, I spoke to B today, and he sounded great, but I made a cynical remark to husb. later, and he was pretty jumpy about it. I used to point the finger and think husb. is in denial, but it doesn\'t matter, he is being kind to the best of his ability toward our son. It is what it is, and our arguing about it isn\'t going to change things, it\'ll just change our relationship.
It does sound like TMan has the gift of gab, though. He may pull out of this in time and decide all the hassle with POs etc is not worth it, and shrug it all off, and become a regular productive citizen. It\'s an age where much can happen.
I wanted to be all prepared for taking off tomorrow, but got a UTI and had to stop everything and go to a walk-in clinic, and go get antibiotics, and the antispasmodic so the spasms stop. Nice way to begin a vacation, but I\'m pretty sure I will be better by the morning. Never had one of these before; most women do get their turn.
I may or may not take my laptop; depends on how burdened our car gets with stuff for the week! So know you are in my prayers, and I know you will be inspired, as always, for your talks.
if you\'re ever interested in a real-life story of heroin -to-methadone-to withdrawal off methadone, let me know; B has been there too.
