Smartin' Up!
Well, teaching 4-5 yr olds is something. Trying to break down big Bible words for their level is using my poor brain and dictionary to their max! I gave up on getting them to memorize Bible verses and instead going with the concept. Like last week on the SPARROW lesson, I just told them "GOD THINKS I AM AWESOME". I mean, why else does He count the hairs on our heads? (Look in my photos)

Going with the concepts is the best thing. I loved it when a little boy in my preschool class went home and told his mom \"Guess what? Jesus really loves me!\"
Have you ever read lessons from the Geese? It\'s been around a long time but it\'s a good one similiar to your ant parable. Just google \"Lessons from the Geese\" You\'ll like it!
I teach this age group in Sunday School. They can memorize scripture--what really helps is learning verses to song. Gospel Light\'s Sunday School curriculum has some good songs. Or you can set the verses to familiar childhood tunes (like John 3:16 to \"The Farmer in the Dell\"). I usually have them do 1 verse every 3-4 weeks.
Thanks to all the above posts. Our church really wants the KJV and let\'s face it, the adults have trouble with all the thee\'s and thou\'s. I prefer modern English. A Messianic Jewish Rabbi came to our church and stated that the closest version to Hebrew was AMERICAN STANDARD, next is REVISED STANDARD, next is NEW KING JAMES and lastly, KING JAMES.
