Small Miracle
Yesterday, I went to the hospital to see a lady. I have known her for years but, I didn't know she was in the hospital till Tuesday evening. Her daughter called me and asked me to go see her. She told me her mom had refused to eat and hadn't had much of anything for almost a week. She asked me to try to get her mom to eat.
I went to the hospital and went into her room. She was asleep so, I woke her up and told her who I was. She smiled and said Hi. I asked her why she hadn't been eating and she said she didn't know. I asked her if her husband ( he is deceased, I did his funeral) would want her to quit eating and die? I then asked her if Jesus would want her to give up and die? She said no. I then told her I did not want her to give up and die either.
This little lady comes to the entertainment area every month, at the nursing home where she lives, and she places her wheelchair right behind my piano bench so she can hear me play and make requests for songs.
I then asked her if she would give up and die, who would request songs like "The Lighthouse, The old rugged Cross, and Bill Baily? She smiled at me. I told her she had to start eating and get her strength back because I did not want her to give up and die and neither did her family or friends. I made her promise me she would start eating. She said "What"? I then restated that I wanted her to promise me she would start eating and get better. She said she would promise she would try. I told her that I would hold her to that promise and then we had prayer together.
I got a phone call from her daughter this morning, informing me that her mom was being moved back to the local nursing home. I then told her that I had been to see her mom yesterday and I told her what I had done. She said "Oh My". I asked her why she said "Oh My" and she said that she had talked to the nurses this morning at the hospital. She said that Fanny" (her mom) had drank a whole glass of juice this morning and a half a bowl of broth and also some "Assure". She said the nurses said they were amazed at her attitude and her willingness to eat.
Her daughter thanked me so much for going to see her mom and for praying with her, etc.. She said she knew if she contacted me, that I would make a difference in her mom. I told her that I am just a vessel the Lord uses that He deserves the praise and honor, not me. She was so happy and I told her that I would visit her mom, Mon. when I make my weekly visits to the nursing home.
I am humbled and privileged to be available for people, when I am needed. This is what I do. This is what fuels me and blesses me in the process, to know that maybe, I can make a difference in someone's life.
