Slight Update

Hi Ladies.  As most of you know I have been having a tough time with jobs lately, so I took a job at a grocery store in my neighborhood as a cashier.  Had a tough time getting used to being on my feet all day.  My back would  kill me.  I bought some Dr. Scholl things to put in my tennis shoes to help my back.  It helps a little.  So now that I was getting used to it, even enjoying it a bit, the store is closing the end of Aug.  I swear I am like the kiss of death.  I have worked at, at least 4 places that have gone out of business.  Brookshire Bros, is a chain, but a smaller chain then some of the others in the area.  There prices are higher than the others, so it was hard for them to keep up, with HEB or Walmart.  So now I am pounding the pavement again.  (the internet).  I applied at a place called HomeInstead.  What you do is visit the elderly or shut-ins and helped them with little things, like light housekeeping or a light meal, or a cup of tea or something.  Maybe run to the store or pick up a prescription for them.  You don’t get into bathing them or anything like that., or administering meds.  You don’t have to be a nurse or have any experience, just genuinely want to help people.  So we shall see if I get this one.    I am feeling really great.  I have my Dr. appointment next month.  Here  is where I start getting nervous.  You all know what that is like.    That is about it for now.  I will keep you posted on the job search.  Love and hugs to all  Anita

Hi Anita, I\'m sorry the store is closing, but it sounds like you\'re on to something taking an interest in the old folks. One thing that never goes out of business, is health care. Good luck with the job hunting and your appointment next month. Glad you feel great. love and purrs,

I am so sorry Anita. I want to say when one door closes another one opens but those damn doors keep popping closed on you with the jobs. Will be praying that the assisting elderly works out for you. It would be a very rewarding job helping them. I can see you brightening up so many days. Big big hugs girl and love to you and I am so happy you are feeling well.

With your wonderful attitude and ability to move on and through these things.. you will eventually find your self in the \'right\' job for you. I don\'t know why we didn\'t think of this type of helping people sooner, as a job option for you.

I did some care work a few years back, met some wonderful people and felt I was doing something very worth while. I did a lot of work with terminally ill clients and their families and felt very privileged and blessed to be of such use.

There are career opportunities in this area too.. eighteen months later I was managing the company.. Which I did for three years until I was diagnosed with cancer.. This sort of work led me to study counselling for three years, Counselling is a great career for mature women. Life takes some interesting twists and turns, hope this is a good one for you.. xxx
