Sleeping Alone
My husband had foot surgery yesterday and decided to sleep in the closest bed last night rather than climb the stairs. My glee knew no bounds. He is such a loud restless sleeper and I am always getting woken up. Since the doc told me they would not give me sleeping pills just so I could sleep through my husband's noise I have pretty much given up all hope. I did buy some over the counter ones, but they leave me groggy in the mornings.
However with the bed to myself I took one and climbed happily into the middle of the bed and went out like a light. I woke up at 6am went to the bathroom. Climbed back into bed with no hope of returning to sleep as I have never been able to after say about 5am. Well it was quiet, no snoring, no thrashing about, no grunting, muttering or other behavior. I also was not too warm as my husband is so warm when he sleeps the bed is frequently like a furnace. I could not have been awake even 5 minutes and I slept until 7:40am.
I seriously have not slept that late in 20 years or more. I woke up feeling refreshed and positive and my whole outlook was just better. Unfortunately it didn't last. My husband got up and didn't sleep well. Know he will want his own bed again tonight and I will be back to not being able to sleep.
I will always be a terrible wife longing for a bed and bedroom of my own. I did however wonder if some of my depression, anger etc was caused by lack of sleep. I need to go back to the doctor and try again. I need something that doesn't leave me so groggy in the mornings, but will knock me out enough that I don't need a seperate room. I so wish I could go off the military base to a real doctor.
