Sleep? What is that?

HI All,

After having a hard week, between Home Depot giving me more  hours and the cloudy/raining weather and not sleeping as well as I'd like, standing on my feet all day at work.  My mood was up and down.  Weds it crashed on me.  I was upset when I missed the 2nd bus, because the first bus changed their scheduled times.   I had a day when I just completely fell apart and cried.  Yesterday I had to work,  my housemate had woken up at 3AM, I was worried she might be sick.  It's not like her to wake up in the middle of the night.  She told me she had felt warm so she adjusted the A/C and felt hungry.    I went back to sleep and she set her alarm about 45 mins before my alarm went off.  It woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep.   But at least I got about 6 hours, I can operate on 6 hours.  I prefer to get at least 7 hours.  I am not a morning person, but I get up when I have to.   My housemate, on the other hand, is a morning person.  She retired from her job a few years ago.   So I don't know why she, sometimes, sets her alarm when she isn't going anywhere until later in the day.    She is a big bridge player, she belongs to two groups. One meets every other Tues and the other meets once a month on a Sun.     The Tues group will sometimes call her asking her to play on another day.  They seem to play on other days and sometimes need an extra player.  Well last night she told me that she was going to bridge today.   I was glad to have some time to myself in the house.     I planned to have a relaxing day today.

Well at just about 10mins to 6AM her alarm goes off.  It woke me up,  my problem is she seems to like to hit the snooze alarm. So the alarm goes off every 15-20 mins.   She will do this several times before she'll finally get out of bed.  For me I set my alarm, it goes off and I get up right away.  I have NEVER seen any sense to a snooze alarm.  you're either sleeping or UP.   if you set an alarm then get up at the time you need to get up.  Don't lay there and have an alarm sounding every couple of mins. ESPECIALLY when you KNOW it will disturb someone else's sleep.

I have lived her 2 years now.  And I didn't always hear the alarm going off (or she didn't set it)  in fact before Fri I hadn't heard the alarm in a long while.

It seems that no matter where I have lived I've always run into some issues with being able to sleep.   When I was a kid I slept, because kids tend to sleep deeply and it's hard to get them to wake up.  But over time I find my sleep patterns to be light.   I've had issues with neighbors waking me up,  being stressed when I lived with my brother,  living with friends who made noises.   The place I lived in before here was a horror. The lady was emotionally abusive to me,  I was happy to leave after a couple of months.

My housemate is a nice person,  She has tried to be considerate.  We recently put the central a/c on and she had set it a bit on the warm side because she thought I didn't like it too cold.

I have tried to be considerate of her at night, I take showers in the evening and I asked her if I was making any noises that woke her up and she said no.   She does have a hearing problem, she is going to get tested this week to see if she needs a hearing aid,  so that could be one reason why she might not hear me. But I try to be as quiet as I can.   When my alarm goes off it's not that loud, at least not loud enough that she should hear it in her room AND I shut it off right away and get out of bed.

I am going to try to lay down and see if I can get some sleep.  it won't make up for the lost sleep of last night.  I don't know what the solution is.  Maybe I should just go to sleep when she does and give up being a night owl.   It's just a natural way that I am, not being a morning person.

It sure would be nice to get a good night's sleep again.   I'm also dealing with a new mattress that is much firmer than I'm used to so that is another issue.   oh well. Thanks for letting me vent.
