Last night was the first night I slept deeply in weeks. I could've let this whole apartment thing get to me but instead just gave in to my tiredness and slept. Today I will go over and document everything as well as have a professional exterminator go in and give me a free consult. I need to come out with my guns blazing. Its costing me more not to live there than it is just to put up with the bugs. I'm terribly embarressed.
Roomie will go over with me tonight to also look at the fire alarm and the smoke detector. If I cant put food in the cabinets then this makes it not livable.
I am hoping they let me out of the lease but I have to have enough ammo to do so and it might not hurt to have the city come over and look too. I could be sad about all this, but, it is not my fault they have all the issues that were not resolved before I moved in. I feel scattered..some of my things are there while some are at Roomies. I cant even bring my bed back home in fear I will infest Roomies house. It's very hard to live this way.

Ya got me nostalgicating over the first sunbelt apartment I signed up for after I officiated the estrangement of my birth family in 1977. It was an efficiency apartment in a college ghetto and I amnae sure I ever felt more alone in my life than I did at that stage. It was also my first significant exposure to roaches. The 50 million scurrying roommates did not make me feel less alone and I even like insects enough to catch and study them.
Almost exactly 43 years later I still don't love cockroaches, but I am grateful I didn't let the bugs compromise my determination to build a new, independent life. Some amazing development happened in that funky little apartment. Perhaps the most important development was the fortitude which allows me to keep going and even find joys to appreciate in the face of adversity.
But those are just the nostalgications of a psychotic old geezer. . . Nostalgia does, indeed, find charms in the weirdest of places.

When you document, take pictures too. When we moved into our apartment we were given a sheet to document anything that we felt could have been pinned on us once we moved out. I noted even the smallest of things just so it was on record. We didn’t have bugs and we were shown the actual apartment we would be living in even though it was occupied before we signed the lease so we had that going for us.
I ‘m sorry this isn’t going a 100% smoothly. There are always hiccups. Bugs though are unnerving. I would be pissed. But, one way or another it will get resolved.
Yes, I was suppose to receive a call from the property manager this morning however Ive received no call. I even filed a claim with the actual property management company and nothing...I have filed a claim with the DBPR per instructions on google. Next will be the health department.
Ive got loads of pictures and videos of bugs crawling up the walls.
It has been a long time since I have had to rent an apartment from someone I didn't know but you have my sympathy for all you are having to endure.

We moved into an apartment after we sold our house. We wanted to down size and take some time to figure out what we wanted to do (buy a condo, buy smaller house, wait until it becomes a buyers market, etc). I do love our apartment, it's clean and safe and the management company is responsive, etc. So it's certainly possible to rent a nice place. But there's a certain risk with renting for sure.

Sage, I’m so proud of you for the effort you have been exerting to settle yourself. I hope you can shake this off and regroup. I’ve been working with the local health inspector for a restaurant expansion I’m building. Very professional and he would take your situation seriously.
