Skewed Goals

The sale of the old house was a landmark in my mind. No great windfall. We simply rolled the equity over to the new mortgage, thereby establishing the base expense for our retirement years with a respectable inheritance for succeeding generations, in addition to easing the burden of the double mortgage. Our credit card charges got a bit excessive during the move. We had plans to shift our payments toward getting that paid down and to return to our usual practice of never carrying balances forward. Normally we use our credit cards like a checking account with a 30 day float policy.
Apparently it was a landmark in the minds of my sons, as well. The combined financial requests that rolled in from them this week was far and away greater than the expense of the old house. I have been saying no more than I have been minding their business, but the machine gun nature of their requests has me shell shocked. The requests started rolling in before we could even enjoy a celebratory dinner.
I feel safe calling it co-dependency issues.
God, please grant me patience. NOW!!!!
