I can hardly believe that I have gone half of a year without gambling or stepping foot into a casino. It feels really good. I just need to stay focused on one day at a time. Next Tuesday is my last day of school, and I need to make sure that I have plenty of things to do to keep me busy. I always have things to do, but I do not always choose to do them. I am working hard to correct some of the damage that gambling has caused me. I used to always be very patient, and now I can't stand waiting in line. I even turned off I76 the other week because I was getting tired of waiting in a traffic jam. What happened? I drove around in a circle (not intentionally) for 20 minutes and ended up getting right back on I76. Another area that I need to work on his organization. I used to be so organized, and when I gambled, I got in the habit of throwing all of my bills, etc.. into a box because I knew that I could not pay them. I figured if I hid them in a box I did not have to worry about them. Another area that I need to work on is just relaxing. I always feel that I have to be going somewhere or doing something. I get frustrated when I do not have any place to go or anything "fun" to do. I was so frustrated on Memorial Day when all as I did was school work, yard work, and laundry. I have to work on getting out of that mentality. As the school year ends I have a lot of change happening all at once, so I am working on a plan for this summer to help me stay busy in a constructive way. I know that people think that I am crazy worrying about having my summer off, but it would be much easier for me if I didn't because I could just stay in the routine that I am used to. Usually, after the first week I am adjusted and ready for a break. I might even start going to GA this summer if I can gather up enough courage to do that. Today was stressful, but I know that it will be stressful until the end of the year. Today I met my new class for next year, and it is always a sad time when my students move to fifth grade. The reason for this is that they are in a new building next year, so I do not get to see how they are doing. I guess that I am lucky because I have a job that I really enjoy which is working with students.

You and me both (lucky to have jobs that we enjoy). Like the Confucius saying \"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.\". I know how hard it is to fill up your days, and to let our addicted brain tell us that the casino is our \"fun\" place, when in reality it just tears us down, and shreds us to pieces. Have you checked out other groups here on DS that are just for fun? There is really something for everybody. It helps for distraction in a major way. I am going to send you an invite to my group, but DO check out the other \"member groups\", I bet you find somethings you really like. Congratulations on 6 months! That is a major achievement. Let\'s keep on doing this thing...one day at a time. Hugs, ~Estel
