Single mom and just trying...

Ive been a single mom for about 5 years... and im happy with my decision! Coming from an emotionally, verbally and financially abusive relationship i couldnt be happier. Ive been raising my girls alone, and trying to do everything "by the book" or "right". I do get help from my mom, with childcare when it comes to be having to go to work. But she is like most moms, overbearing, has to put her two cents in everything (i cant complain too much) however, she wasnt really there for me as a child. So i feel like alot of this come from guilt. My girls dont see their biological father, due to drugs and other things. He doesnt try to see them either, or doesnt really fight for them. I get extremely overwhelmed with alot.. work, school, money, relationship, remembering dr appointments, and keeping up with maintaining the house. I feel like im not doing a good job with raising them. And i dont have anyone ever telling me im doing a decent job. I guess a small part of me wants recognition for everything i deal with and have to do on a daily baises. I read up on how to handle temper tantrums, or how to deal with an impatient child. Or how to make them listen to me. I've cried in from of them countless times, because i feel so defeated. and i know they dont completely understand that, theyre only 4 and 6, soon to be 5 and 7. I dont have very many friends around me that have kids, my best friend lives out of state. So this is my last resort...joining a support group, that MIGHT be going through some what of the same challenges as me.
