Simple Question

Here is one to figure out. A person is lonely and would like to have more people in their life, but that person has social anxiety and finds it hard to deal with people, especially a crowded room. How do that person find people without having to deal with people?

Simple, but not easy. Simple in that you should start small with one or two people at a time and build as you get comfortable. Start with simple situations - here\'s what I do: I will sit in a coffee shop and someone sits down next to me (I have a favourite spot on a large table that seats about six), and I might notice something funny in the newspaper on the table or something else, so I make a joke about it. Had a lady I had never met in stitches within a minute and she shook my hand after five minutes thanking me for \'a fun five minutes and a great way to start her day.\' Point is you use what is around you. Even a simple hello and a smile when someone sits down, or a simple courtesy and just make some conversation. It is really more the fear of doing it that stops most people and then they get all freaked out about doing it. Just start simple and build. Like I said, simple, but not easy...at first, but it gets easy with a bit of practise. G

I appreciate what you said and you are spot on. Baby steps is the best way to go about it.
