Sigh
The daughter-in-law attempted suicide today. The details are still vague. YS is currently chasing her through the harrowing halls of ER aftermath. GS (3) is with me 190 miles north of the domestic drama and doing fine. He knows something is up and has been asking about mommy and daddy, but I haven't told him anything more detailed than, "They can't skype right now." GD (1) was handed over to hubs a short while ago so that YS could go places children are not allowed at the hospital where she was taken.
Over the course of the emotional flurry YS revealed that domestic violence has been errupting between the two since the MIL/DIL Blowout ?? how long ago? Going on two years ago? It's in my journal. . . The domestic violence wasn't much of a surprise. GS is at the "tattletale" stage. He has been filling me in 3 year old style. Just the facts that I have words for, ma'am. Thems is BIG words for a 3 year old. What gets said at Granny's house stays at Granny's house. I haven't seen where I can do anything more than give the child a safe haven. Marital issues are as personal a sorting as Nature ever created. More is NOT better in that arena.
Prayers in progress. . .

My heart is with you Arf. That's a whole lot to be dealing with.
Arfie, wow, that is a lot on your plate? How are you doing? I hope you are taking some time to do some extra self-care. I am sorry to hear your daughter in law got to the point see attempted to suicide. There will be a lot of things for the family to deal moving forward. My prayers are with your entire family.
GS and I held steady for the night here at the job site. I do not believe a 3 year old is going to understand many of the words attached to his mother's suicide attempt, but there is not a doubt in my mind that he is feeling it across the 190 miles between us. He remains quite anxious to "Talk Mommy Daddy." Still, we both slept well through the night. His anxiety wasn't quite enough to whelm his amazement at sleeping in a bed he helped put together.
And so begins the text stream from the urban homestead. . . Prayers ongoing. . .
My heart and soul goes out to you arfie. I will pray for your daughter in- law and you. Try and keep your head together. It's a lot to deal with. Soft Furry Hugs.

Heavy on the fur, fleas and all. . . GS has never been especially fond of my therapy dog (my avi pict). They were pups together and she was a much bigger pup than he was. . . During the last two days she has become "Mine Dog." She is thriving on being his the channel for his confusion. Let's hear it for Soft Furry Hugs!
Long live soft furry hugs! So sorry your going through this. Sending prayers your way....
