SIGH
I have a few moments to say "hello" and tell you what is going on in my world. I'm back @ work (since 8/1}- kids begin tomorrow. It's been incredibly busy - there are state required immunizations that I have had to get in order for students to begin school - good ole state of California - there is no more personal beliefs allowed so in order for students to be exempt from vaccines, they have to get a medical exemption from their Dr. stating what the medical condition is or they have to home school - such is my life this week...mad parents/ kids anxious and here we go again for another school year! LOL
This has been a sad week and very emotional. ONe of the Sr. Secretary's son was killed this past Sunday in a car accident. Her son, Garrett was well known in the district as he was a student and very active in a local church on the worship team. Well, you already know - something like this, hits me so hard....takes me back to "good-bye" and just knowing the road that she is now on. I don't know her very well, but I will reach out soon.
I am feelng really good tonite about a situation. I don't know if I journaled last year about a work incident that happened and a friendship that dissolved bcause of it. A year has gone by and it still really bugs me that we are not talking. Because I am an only child, my friends are like my sisters so in saying that, I have been devastated that we don't talk, it's awkward in meetings, etc.
Today I felt like I needed to say something to her - I did....she was very receptive and said she had missed me too. We hugged and she said, we will start over....now it will be a start over with a history. This person was with me the day that I was told Jennifer was not going to make it.....so special to have here with me....so tonite I followed my heart, swallowed my pride, reached out.....and I feel great about it! I'm so grateful. We have known each other 20 years.....so hopefully healing will begin now that the door has been opened.
I had Hunter for 10 days - it was great! He was talkative, fun and it was so nice having him here. I was @ peace. He starts school tomorrow as well - a Sr. in high school. His mom would love seeing him maturing, so many things he does, I see her. So many things he says, I see her. It was great......
Well, Sisters of my Heart, I'm tired.....will go to bed early for the chaotic day tomorrow.......Seattle is getting closer and can't wait to meet all of you! Hugs from Jennifer's mom (always)!!

Hi Vicki, ahh, the beginning of school. It is wild, isn't it? You must be incredibly busy! Hopefully your job will settle down a bit soon.
So sorry about Garrett! We know how much this hurts and how hard the first days and weeks are...my heart goes out to his family. When you are ready, I am sure she will appreciate you connecting. My coworker ' s son passed last March and we've gotten together a few times and she said it is helpful. I know Jennifer and Ed are proud of us when we reach out to moms and dads who are new to this horrific journey. Take care of you in all this sadness. ♡
Such positives in your life too! So glad you and your friend are beginning again.
And 10 days with Hunter - how great for both of you. Jennifer must be so proud of her boy!
Get some rest. Love you!
Linda
I am so glad you have reached out to your friend. It may be awkward at first but I think it will be worth it in the end!
I am a former nurse so am all for immunization. I gave flu vaccines to staff members when I was still working. It was a bit scary as I hadn't worked on a unit for several years. Apparently administering injections is a skill one doesn't lose! My granddaughter went to a little rural Christian school . They didn't believe in Gardasil so Lisa took her to the doctor and got it.
I am so glad you had time with Hunter. He sounds like a special kid. Tight hugs.
I've been thinking about how your beginning of the school year has been feeling and appreciate reading about it. Always lots of reasons to try to diffuse situations of angst and anxiety for you, aren't there.
How wonderful that you reached out to your friend and the timing must have been just right for both of you. Sometimes it's so hard to know when to pass the olive branch, yet you did and I have no doubt your friend is grateful too.
Hunter is growing and maturing and I have no doubt he reminds you of your Jennifer. Grateful he is living close enough now that these times of being together can happen with more ease.
Oh, whenever I hear of another thrust upon this path my heart sinks. I'm SO sorry because it's heartbreaking.
See you in two weeks in Seattle and looking forward to it.
Loving care, Vicki, and tight heart (((hugs))) to Jennifer's mom from Douglas and me.
XO Joanie
Vicki, I am wishing you a great school year with a new beginning with your friend.
It is so tough to know that others are beginning the path we have been on for these last years. It makes you feel it all over again for awhile which can set us back. Take care of yourself as you reach out to this devastated new mom.
It has got to be incredible to watch Hunter grow and to see Jennifer in him. You must be so proud!
Sending love,
Leda
