Sick Kids, Stressed Wife, Normal Pain = ARGH!

This was a weekend to remember (or forget). First off, the kids arrived sick. M was hacking and coughing and V was complaining of a sore throat. Tonight she's hacking in bed. I just know I'm going to come down with it.
In addition, the wife has been moody all weekend, with today being especially bad. So I do the only thing I can do, I try some yard work to escape. Last year before snowfall, a few trees were cut down. They were old and ugly. However, that left a lot of sticks and twigs all over the place. I decided that this weekend would be a good time to rake them up. I started yesterday and went back at it today. I did it mostly to escape from everything. However, I could only do little bits of a time, and that means that as of now there are still lots of little piles of sticks and trash all over the yard. It doesn't look great, but my body has limits, and when it starts yelling at me to stop, I have to obey.
Speaking of pain, I'm almost out of Lyrica. when the pdoc upped my dose, all he did was add a 150mg dose to my current stuff, but only gave me a one month script. No refills. I guess my body adjusted to it and I ended up taking four of the regular pulls in place of the others (total daily intake) when I ran out of those. Now I have enough to take only one a day, and have to wait two weeks to get the next refill. Yes, I am in pain. The pills are sitting on the desk in front of me, and I am so tempted to take another. Yet I know that even one pill a day is better than none, so I'm resisting the urge no matter how much it hurts.
Positive notes - my next door neighbors seem to be moving out. That's great news as they have been jerks from the beginning, even stealing our garbage can. This past week they got two more dogs and they are all yip yip dogs that they leave out in the yard all day. Drives us nuts. Hopefully that won't be an issue any more.
Also another note of good news, there is this old barn in our back yard. We've been wanting it torn down ever since we got here, but couldn't afford to pay anyone to do it. Well, I found a construction company that will pay us $500 to take it down and haul it away. Yes, old wood sells and it's nice to get paid for its removal.
One last thing of good news, the kids won't be back for two months. Next month they'll be up in Alaska visiting their oldest sister's college graduation. I'm so very happy and excited about that. Two full months without them is going to be a real blessing to me. In fact, it'll be the first for me since I started dating the wife. I'm really looking forward to it.
Of course they had to give me the parting gift of a cold...
I have mixed feelings. I am so happy when they are not here, but at the same time, I feel like a horrible husband to my wife for feeling this way. I wish things were different, but they aren't. My wife also gets moody when they're here too, and I don't think it's me because she's always been this way around them. I don't know why. But I have the increased stress from the kids being here plus my wife being moody. It's just no fun for me whatsoever. Of course all this stress just adds to my pain level, and I end up just being miserable.
Every now and then, some things with the son happen out of the blue. Like last night. He felt like talking to me "mono e mono" and it went kinda well. Afterwards we ended up watching a movie together and I cooked us pizza. He even helped out in the yard a bit today. He calls me a "good dad." I want to like the guy, even love him again, but I remember all the crap he has pulled, even up to the recent past and I'm instantly distrustful of him. He tried bringing up his father a couple times and I stopped him immediately telling him (as always) that I don't want to talk about his dad or his "other" home life. I wonder if he's going to go crying to his dad again and say that we've been asking about that. I just can't trust him anymore. I want to, but I can't. When your trust gets violated multiple times, well, that's it. It's just like "The Boy Who Cried Wolf," eventually you don't believe them anymore, no matter how much you want to.
The worst of it is my wife and how bitchy (yes, I said it) she was today. When the kids were finally asleep, I asked her what was up and told her that she has been moody all day. She said that she was just tired. Maybe that's it, maybe not. I've been around her lots of times when she's been tired, and she's never this way. So I don't know what's up. Maybe it's because of me. She knows that I don't trust her kids anymore and don't look forward to them coming over. Maybe that stresses her the hell out. As the same time, I don't believe in keeping stuff from her, and if she asks, I'll be truthful. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything and have just kept it all to myself.
Just the stress and the increased pains of these weekends really get to me. ARGH!

Is there any way you can call your pdoc? When I went off Lyrica, I ended up in the ER. The only way to describe it was I felt like I was dying. Please be careful ;)

You have every right to have the feelings you have regarding the kids. They broke your trust and have to earn it back. Sorry you are in pain and now have a cold. Be sure to rest my friend.

Good to see you here.

Hey sweetie. I\'m so sorry I\'m just now reading this.. good grief I\'m a horrible friend. I\'m sorry it was a rough weekend and that your wife was moodier than usual when the kids are there. Maybe she really was just over tired? I\'m glad you get a break for 2 months from the kids. ( Holla! ). I\'m really sorry about the Lyrica .. and you having to wait. Like FF said, can you call the doc tomorrow and see if you can get an early scrip or will insurance not pay for an early scrip? I\'m glad about the neighbors and great news about getting money for the barn to get torn down and removed! I too understand your feelings about the kids.. they are very valid feelings. I know you do the best you can with them and I commend you for that. I hope by the time you see this, things are going better for you. Big big hugs sweetie xoxo
