Sicily Holidays, When to Proceed - And Why!

When ever to visit Sicily - evidently the response could be any time but my advise would be to avoid January to March which despite the island being just off the African coast it gets rather chilly which is also the stormy season.

Even in July there is the colour and scents of the countryside even though the countryside will learn to become dryer and lawn turning brown. Whilst from September onwards the crowds of people disappear and good weather can continue even into December.

Weather wise the average temperatures flirt between 20-35 C degrees. The heat will be dry out rather than the gross heat we associate with the English climate. Of course if you rise to the heights of Mount Etna and other peaks you will eventually cool down!

A question may form why not August? Mainly because this can be a month that Italy moves on holidays- and that means that prices peak by almost double and the restaurant prices equally advance.

Why? The island is not simply recognized for an effective Volcano and beaches but equally for its structure and archaeology, which make it perhaps almost unique blend. After all were can you find a Cathedral (in Syracuse) Which usually was party built by Arabs, then Greeks and then by the Normans who are simply a few of the nationalities that contain kept their mark on the island. In the same city are an Ancient greek theatre and a Both roman Amphitheatre.

To the sth are the Greek temples or wats of Agrigento in impressive preservation considering the way that Italy treats many of its ancient typical monuments.

There is more to this island than Taormina, which is merely about highlighted by every company offering holidays to the island. Whilst an interesting mountain top town with a Greek Theatre, (which has outstanding views of the coastline from the site) the hordes of vacationers attracted to the alternatively tacky shops too often smother the resorts destinations.

Cefalu is in my judgment an interesting resort which contains it's Norman tall built by the 50 percent brother of William the Conqueror back in 1131, narrow cobbled streets which lead out onto small beaches and the sea.

The best way to see Sicily could be to take a seven-night coach tour which attends for all the major places of interest and then take a week letting a flat or villa to relax and revel in the countryside.
