That is crazy. . . It's an older history, but very interesting in terms of when to talk and when not-to talk.

It is a YouTube clip of the Miss Teen America contestant from Sc. She's answering the question, 'Recent polls show that a fifth of Americans can't discover the U.S. On the world map. Why do you think this can be'?
If you see it written out word after word like this, it's much more frightening:
'I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so since, uh, many people around in our land do not have maps. And I believe that our education, like, such as in the Iraq and South Africa, everywhere, like such as, and I believe that they ought to, our education over in the U.S. should help the U.S. or should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so I will be able to build-up our future for our children.'
I'm thinking she might have gotten left out.
Keep this clip in mind with regards to persuasion under the heading of 'when talking too-much loses the sale.'
Of course, for the most part, we are not begging thousands or even hundreds of people, and to be fair, we have no idea how hard it would be to withstand that kind of pressure. Nevertheless, out of the girls, just one cut is circulating the net. The other forty nine didn't blather on hugely.
As persuaders, our purpose is not only to fill the air with words. We make an effort to aim our message right at what our customers and prospects need.
Obviously, regardless how pleasing this contestant's physical type was, whether or not she was beautiful enough to win isn't the purpose. She came in third and that certainly indicates this is not an intelligence match. She is not hard on the eyes, only hard on the ears.
