SHUT DOWN

I learned today that our state is another to go on lock down. No more in or out of PA.  All businesses are to be closed for at least a week-- probably two. Schools have been closed-- now churches too. Hospitals, pharmacies and grocery stores are all that is left.  (They did say something about smaller places if there are less than 10 people-- but I don't understand that one... If they worry about  someone getting in contact with another and gettin an at risker sick, if it is less than 10- that risk is still there??  wth?)

So while the world gets to sit back, breathe and spend time with family, I am still stocking, prepping and wrapping fruits and veggies at the market.

I would say again to those who haven't---STOCK UP!  We have been shorted by our suppliers.  (Some because they can't keep up with demand-- some because they have half staff as workers are told to stay home if sick.  ) WE have barely a potato on our shelves. The plant where they come from is down most of it's workers. They are told if sick, to stay home and away. As a result, there was noone to package up the 5 lb potatoes.  Our Fresh Express salads are being shorted as they also don't have the normal supply ready.

Our big trucks were limited and now the next one or two may be even more limited as they direct all to the top 10 stores right now to keep them steady. That being said, I fear what will happen when our shelves get barer and with all shut down, people have nothing to do but panic.

TP, paper towels, sanitizer, bleach, wipes. potatoes, bananas, eggs , cheeses , pastas, bread--- all limited . (Several name brand bakeries are just doing white or main seller breads as they donlt have the time or staff for all kinds)    If you need these-- get them now.  :)

Whew! It's pretty similar here in Michigan. I can't get my regular swims at the Y now either, and I'm praying my back won't go out the way it did 5 times before when I wasn't able to exercise. May the Lord protect us all and help us cope with this crisis. I am thankful for one thing--I am in the habit of keeping large supplies of food and toilet paper, etc., on hand, so my brother and I are ok for a long time. I hope you continue to manage ok and stay well. God bless you.

I have had that habit too. Learned that from my late mother. She stocked up big time during the winter because she did not drive and my father was always complaining if he had to take her shopping during the winter months. Hugs my friend stay safe

I had to borrow some toilet paper from my ex wife because the stores were all cleaned out of it.

You see, when people are fearful ...they hoard the things necessary for survival.

It will all work out in the end.

God Bless

I can picture a sign on the interstate creaking in the wind saying closed with tumbleweeds blowing along in the distance. :) we are not given anything we can’t handle. Maybe something good will come out of this? Like a better sense of compassion. We’re all the same apparently. Human.

Sadly some are kind of evil. Initial hoarders of tp and sanitizer were more concerned with price gauging on the internet.

Hopefully you are right about that compassion. I am seeing that around here. Genuine concern for each other.

Stay safe.

What good does it do to hoard bananas?!!! Or any other fresh fruit?
I'm buying what I need and can use, presently. We don't use paper products, much. Towels are cut down to washcloths, old raggedy washcloths and sheets are cleaning rags. I buy a few yards of cotton fabric and make new napkins now and then. I did get a new package of toilet paper just before all ----broke loose, but even with that, really, do people not know about washcloths?

In checking with other folks working retail, some stores have bare shelves because the people who would be stocking are working the registers. And while convenience foods (frozen dinners, frozen pizza, etc.) are in short supply, the elements of meal-making (whole chickens, staples) are not, so much. Wally-world was totally out of TP. paper towels, napkins. The odd outages I noticed: coffee, and beer, particularly beer in bottles. I guess that says something about my priorities.

As for being out of cold and flu medicine: do people not realize these are symptomatic relief, and not preventive for this disease?

At my age, I think I have a bottle of aspirin, Tylenol, or Advil in most every room in my house, now. I have plenty, if I can remember where I put it down
