Shut down
I had an incident the other day that has shut me down emotionally. I have endured abusive relationships my entire life up until 10 years ago. Since then, I have lived alone, and I like this because I answer to no one but myself good bad or indifferent.
Thursday I had a friend who I thought I had a good friendship with with good communications go off on me over something that others were doing. I am not talking about grousing or venting. I am talking full on with hatred and venom. It took a day for the symptoms of my PTSD to start being noticed by me.
I can rationalize that the outburst was not aimed at me. Even so, I just have withdrawn and I really do not want to leave the house or engage with anyone. Self isolation is a protective mode. It is as if I have rebooted in 'Safe Mode'.
I know that in time this will pass but it is 50/50 that I will ever trust this person again. I am not frreaking out or anything. I have jusy gone quiet.
